I love the pick. This is something we aren't used to seeing.....smart drafting. Gives me confidence that these guys will find starters in the rest of the draft - something sorely missing for years. Remember, Williams will be a rookie. He has lots to learn before we worry about scheme and having too many linemen. If they view Williams as a DE, then that would be a possible upgrade on Coples. Flexibility is what i think the Jets are after and that would make them a dangerous DL on every down.
Trend I saw this past season was teams really pushing the issue of getting pressure with only the front line and flooding the secondary. You need a good one to make it work right.
I am now more excited for the remaining rounds than I have been in quite some time. I expect them to find some starters.
I'm not seeing anyone outside this forum complaining about this pick. Most media pundits are praising the pick, and baffled that Williams made it to the Jets. The overwhelming sentiment I'm getting is "you stack your roster with good football players. Period. No need picks at 6 especially. Take the best player and make your team better". Klecko 100% endorses this pick. That's enough for me, coming from a dude who KNOWS d-line play.
Watching the tape of Leonard Williams is pretty awesome. He's fast, athletic, and just blows blockers up. This guy has dominant written all over him. Cimini said it best: our defense is going to be scary, and our line in particular should probably be banned in most states. I cannot wait to watch this!

+1. I honestly think the negative reaction is just inexperience with all of us seeing a real draft strategy that is the hallmark of championship teams. It's all about having the best talent with proper coaching.
First off this pick has not bearing on the Mo Situation.. This is not an indication of us trading MO nor an indication we are going 4-3... As stated in another thread this is Bowles utilizing guys all over the field in his 3-4 scheme with man press coverage and everyone else going after the QB.
William as pointed out by others was the consensus BEST PLAYER IN THIS DRAFT. You don't pass on that guy... Honestly Our biggest need might just be QB followed buy a game changing RB and then an Edge rusher... IMO... We can get Gregory, Harold in RD 2 maybe Petty or Grayson... I'm convinced we go Gregory or Harold in Rd 2 and a rB in RD 3.. and hope for Mannion in Rd 4

I disagree on the drafting in the 1st RD, most of our #1 's pan out. Its after the 1st Rd that's scares me.
the comment is for the drafts as a whole. You can't maintain a winner simply by hitting only on 1st rounders. Depth is needed and it has been horrible for quite some time.
We should scrap the "King of all Draftniks" mock draft contest and just crown NYJDraftKing right now!

I can not say I hated the pick but I was disappointed :smiley-angry046:. After sleeping on it, going to JETS HOME SITE and reading some things today I feel better. I suggest that all of you go there to listen to their comments on the draft... This could work out very well... they even comment on reaching out to Mo after the draft which BTW they said they would do all along.... these guys are pros and I feel a lot better then last evening. :smiley-cool11:

Even the worlds biggest Patriots ass-kisser and Jets hater, Heath Evans, is reluctantly calling the Jets the biggest winners last night, and he's publicly warning his buddy Tom Brady to be afraid, be very afraid ... and the best part is, he looks depressed over it, but he can't deny it because he spent the past few weeks calling Leonard Williams a monster and insisting the Titans would be nuts not to take him at 2.
