I think that could have been true two years ago when our WR core was arguably the worst in football, or even last year when we had a strong # 2 (Decker) miscast as a # 1, therefore no # 2, and a decent slot WR in Kerley, then a collection of projects and longshots. But if he fails this year with Marshall being a legit # 1, Decker in a much better suited # 2 role, a legit HR Hitter out of the slot in Devin Smith, Kerley working underneath from the slot, Amaro in his second year, what should be a pretty good complimentary running game, and what looks like a TOP 5 defense on paper, with a real chance to be the best defense in football, nobody is going to blame Jets management, this one is squarely on Geno and everybody knows it, he has all of the necessary pieces to thrive in year three, no excuses at all for failure.

Granted the O-line could be better, but you can't have everything exactly the way you want it, its very rare that a QB has an ideal situation from A to Z, most have to overcome a weakness somewhere and still WIN GAMES.

IMO he has more than enough to win with. Any decent NFL QB would win double-digit games with this team and against this weak schedule. Just go out there, extend some drives, make some big plays, and don't throw the games away.

I think it's clear decker wasn't brought in as a #1 , but was part of the larger rebuilding picture, and was the best on the roster last year. A de facto #1 .
What disturbs me is that many of genos poor throws are blamed on below average talent. But if the guys aren't open, throw it away.
In contrast, when Brady had no talent, he'd spend 3 quarters throwing the ball away until the d gets tired in the 4th.

Also worth noting, the Fitzpatrick clip basically cut music, paused, and then you see him in the huddle in a Houston game. Then he starts yelling, "I'm going to put you on my back and lead us to victory, get on my back!" Not just a simple td clip like everyone else.

I wasn't in the petty thread, have you no sense of anecdotal sarcasm? Besides 2 full seasons, a3rd pre season, and 3 additional games, is not getting cut right away. Especially when you cried and pouted after falling to the 2nd round.

other than an obvious hatred for geno, what rationale could you have for the jets to cut geno after 3 games, as your OP suggests?

is it to save the $500k or so of cap space? is it because geno will be such a negative influence on the team after week 3 if he isn't the starter?

do you really think there is any way the team would cut geno after 3 weeks? do you think that macc and bowles will be ok with playing the final 13 games with fitz (a year removed from a broken leg) and 2 QBs who never took a meaningful snap in the regular season (petty and either simms or heaps)?

since you started the thread with the premise the geno will be cut after 3 weeks, i'd like to hear your reasoning why you think this is realistic scenario?

Actually the real vomiting has been from having to watch Buttfumble the turnovers machine in 2011 and 2012 and the even worse Behindthebackfumble the turnovers machine the past two seasons and the nauseating prospect of him possibly being run out on the field to piss away games for a third season

Thankfully Fitzpatrick will save us from that particular reverse peristalsis

I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm going to fall for it anyway and respond to this. No, they should start a failed 10-plus year vet in Fitz that has been bounced from team to team no matter how he plays for them. Or wait, let them start the 4th round draft project in Petty who is no more ready then Geno was when he came out. Better yet, start a career back-up in Simms, who couldn't even beat out Geno his first two years here. Yeah thats the ticket!

Last great idea, let them start this other guy (I don't know his damn name) and then they can really cut Geno. Yeah, all these ideas are better then letting Geno fight in a true competition this camp and win the job fair and square to start the season as the starter. I just figured it out, all you Geno haters know Geno will win the job fair and square (whether Fitz was fully healthy or not, Geno still would/will win it) and you guys just can't stand it.
