Robert Saleh hired and brought his guys mainly from San Francisco to build a coaching staff with an idea of how to structurally build this team... It is not talent that fits his game plan and we can prove that by the porous play these players are delivering each week actually falls on the coaching staff...
On offense the game plan was simple quick, decisive passing attack with off tackle runs to set up screens and eventually take deep shots... Problem is from the beginning of the season the offensive line were not capable of executing their assignments because they had a rookie quarterback whom thrived in college by moving the pocket... He has deep ball tendency with accuracy but at this level all the talent on the field are that 1% exceptional talent from the college ranks...
Moving the pocket in college is fine but at this level it is hard to sustain blocks with linemen that are more impact rather than on the move blockers... So after Zach Wilson got hurt, the real design of this offense was shown by all three quarterbacks Mike White, Josh Johnson, and Joe Flacco that a pocket presence is needed to command this offense...
Sustainability on offense is more so how to keep the momentum throughout the entire game rather only for a half... The Jets rookie offensive coordinator needs to be more heady in his game planning and play calling...
On the defensive side they came in with hopes that a well put veteran structure would allow the young core but between injuries and poor intermediate play from those actual veterans have hindered the success that this defensive game plan should of been... Jarrad Davis was a poor signing, a gamble but he has shown that he is incapable at this level to be a good run defender that his position requires to stack the middle of the field behind the defensive line... CJ Mosley lost weight and is more durable and has better game stamina but still is just a run defender who can not cover... Quincy Williams is a torpedo that is quicker than fast but needs to make sure he wrap tackles more consistently instead of trying to separate torso from legs with hard hits...
Come next year the real off season for this coaching staff to plug players in to fill the voids to help sustain the game plan that they wish to install will give the fans a better appreciation of what this coaching staff wants to employ here with the Jets...
