Is Kirk Cousins off the market?

If the Jets are targeting a QB, in the draft, they can move up to #3. They can offer something the likes of the Bills, Miami and the Cardinals cannot, the #6 pick.
If the draft falls
1) Allen QB(Browns)
2) Barkely RB (Giants)
3) Darnold QB (Jets)
4)Fitzpatrick DB (Browns)
5) Rosen QB (Brocos)
6) I believe the Colts want Barkely, once he is gone, either at 1 or 2. whoever they want besides Barkely will/might be there, unless of course it's Fitzpatrick.
They can also stil trade back, acquiring more draft picks. In this scenario, Mayfield is still there.

If the Giants don’t draft a qb at #2 then they made a mistake. They are almost never in the lottery, now that they are they must take their next QB. RBs are easier to find than franchise Qb. I think the Giants draft QB, Oline and RBs this draft.

hows that they actually like Davis Webb, even with the new GM, HC combo they still are said to like Webb... so as much as you say because they are in the lottery that need to draft a QB is wrong, if they are behind both Eli and DW then getting a cornerstone RB would solve the balance of which they didn't have last season... they couldn't run the ball and when a defense knows you can not run it then they don't respect and will go all out to drill, smack and pummel the quarterback which they did countless times...

Giants also need to address the OLine but they won't take anyone that high. Elliot was taken 4th and has turned that franchise around, Barkley is ten times better than Elliot for the Cowboys and the Giants can not pass up...

If we want to move up to 1 - 3, it will cost us at least #1 and #2 this year and next. To get our QB of the future. It would be worth it.

If Macc has zeroed in on a particular QB in this draft who he believes is a franchise QB, no doubt about it, make it happen. Give up next year’s 1st. Whatever.

Just get this team a franchise QB!

On NFL Sirius Radio today Albert Breer said the Jets are a very legitmate team to sign Cousins. If they do, reemeber the name Jeremy Bates. Breer is a reputable insider.

Going back to the last time the Jets won the superbowl, what, something like 100 years ago, guess how many times 4 qb's have gone in the top 6 of the draft? Answer- Never. Twice 3 QB's have gone in the top 6. 1971,1999. every other year it was 2 or less. So based on history, one of the top 4 qb's will be there for the Jets at #6

That is if I looked at the table correctly. It was pretty boring and lulled me half to sleep. Kind of like a Jets game

It makes sense for Cousins to go to the Vikings. If he has to take a mere 25 mil a year and pass up 35 mil a year from the Jets, do you think he'll miss those 10 mil per year? I doubt it. as long as belichick sticks around, if you want to go to the superbowl, you better plan on doing it from the NFC. I was hoping the fake news was true about the riff in NE but with McDaniels totally screwing the Colts it seems it was just fake news. belichick probably told McDaniels that he would will him the video tape collection, so the AFC is not a place to be for a while.

The one thing going against going to the Vikings is next season will be superbowl or bust. Lots of pressure if he goes there. But on the other hand if he comes to the Jets and he loses to the cheatahs twice and the Jets go 7-9 NY won't be too fun for him either. especially if we dole out 30 mil or more per season

IMO, Giants ownership knows what they are doing. The only time they ever had success was when they had a top ten qb playing for them. Between Simms and Kerry Collins they had a bunch of castoffs. That’s what they will be looking at if Eli retires without a suitable replacement. If Webb was as good as they say he is, he would have gotten some playing time last year after Eli was benched. Actions speak louder than words. People rarely speak bad about the players on the roster. Hell, if you ask a jets coach I’m sure you’ll hear them say “we still think highly of Hack”.

As for oline, I read that they are going to go all out on Norwell.

Right, but when. Run on QBs start everyone starts to panick and starts taking the QBs early in fear of missing out on their guy. We’ll see. There’s a first for everything. I also can’t recall a time where there were so few top QBs in the league.

Grab Chubb or Nelson and sign Bridgewater for probably less than Cousins will make per game. Bring back McCown and keep getting solid players. I don't care if we don't get Cousins. Give him one offer and then move on. No need to panic. And we might hit with Bridgewater on a 2 year deal.

Darn..........here I go agreeing with you again. Old age must be wearing me down. We could probably sign both Brigewater and McCown for less than Cousins alone would get. I'd make one, take it or leave it, offer for Cousins and move on. Truth of the matter from my perspective.......IF Bridgewater can stay healthy and play like he did before that devastating injury he could easily be better than Cousins.

Cousins did very well financially the last two years playing on the tag in Washington. And like you said, this is a difference between being filthy rich and obscenely rich.

Jason La Canfora (NFL Network) reporting that, despite the Vikings rumors, the Jets are going to go hard at Cousins in hopes of landing him. They want him badly. Also, McCown and Bridgewater are the fallback options together with a drafted QB. (Our speculation around here is pretty accurate).

Jets supposedly also looking at the LB (Avery Williamson from TENN) and CB positions in FA. Malcolm Butler’s name keeps resurfacing.

Additionally, La Canfora reports the Jets really want ASJ back, but they’re going to have some competition for him from Seattle and Atlanta.

Jets also interested in NE RB Dion Lewis, as are the Titans and Colts.

I want no patriot castoffs. They hardly ever produce after they leave NE

For me, Lewis is a situational back very similar to what Bilal Powell does. Why are we going to fork out that kind of money to a player we already have on the roster?

I agree. Once they leave Belichick defensive system or stop running from behind that crazy good oline, almost all of them become very average. Unless they're bringing Belichick video collection, I'll pass

Regarding Kirk guarantee money is the key for the Vikings I read somewhere that the owner does not have deep pockets and when a team signs a player with guarantee money they have to deposit that money into an escrow account immediately. Thats our only chance we may have that he signs with us. We will find out shortly.

I look it at like this:

1. Cleveland Browns -- Josh Allen
(Tyrod Taylor bridge QB that will allow the Browns to develop someone with all the tools)

2. New York Giants -- Saquon Barkley
(the deal is if Barkley falls from first Giants believe having that run game will allow Manning to extend his career by 3 to 5 years)

3. Indianapolis Colts (Trade) Buffalo Bills -- Baker Mayfield
(fits perfectly in what Bills want to do on offense)
cost may not be steep maybe Colts willing to take 2 1st '18 and 1st & 2nd '19

4. Cleveland Browns -- DB Minkah Fizpatrick could use that hybrid defensive back to play in the slot and step out into center field

5. Denver Broncos -- Josh Rosen
(John Elway won't pass up on Rosen who is more accurate then any QB on his roster and can start day one)

6. New York Jets (Trade) Arizona Cardinals -- Sam Darnold
(Jets lose out on Cousins but turn to plan B where they could be in the sweepstakes to get Rudolph or Jackson with additional picks)
Darnold won't fair well on the east coast.

with the Jets moving back to 15 still have the option to get a player like WR Calvin Ridley, Alabama, NT Vita Vea, Washington, ER Marcus Davenport UTSA, MLB Roquon Smith, UGA or OG Willy Hernandez, UTEP

acquiring in that trade down we could receiver 2 2nd Rd Picks (1 in '18 & 1 in '19) including a 5th in '18.
this would give us fire power to move up or stand pat in the 2nd round with three picks to make things happen.

1 2nd could be used on RB Sony Michel or Rashaad Penny
1 2nd could be used on QB Lamar Jackson or Mason Rudolph
1 2nd could be used on CB Quenton Meeks or Isaiah Oliver

other options could be the dropped stock of OG/OC Billy Price from OSU or TE Hayden Hurst from South Carolina

There are a lot of scenarios especially right now pre free agency but right now this could be a solid scenario that works for us in many ways...

I don't think three rich kids that like the game of football but clearly don't need it would make good franchise options for us. Opening the door for a kid like Lamar Jackson who will play with a chip on his shoulder could be a steal. Even if we have to move up back into the first we have a third to make that happen.

If Darnold is there at #6 and the Jets trade out I will punch a hole in my TV.

There will be TV’s being punched, TV’s flying out of windows, and TV’s burning in the streets of NY if the Jets pass on Darnold at #6.

(No way it happens. Darnold isn’t going to make it past 3).
