if maccagnan can't get a legit QB via FA/trade, what in the world has given you the idea he has the balls not to take darnold at 6??

Darnold not the right QB... Will need at least a few years to develop to this level... This fan base wants a starter not another project...

Even if that's the case, the plan will be to sign Bridgewater and have the rookie QB develop for two years. If he develops sooner, you can trade Teddy for a decent pick, like the Eagles did.
There is a report that it's basically the Vikings and Jets, and word is the Vikings are looking into Brees. That could leave the Jets as the only team standing for Cousins.
I'm still on the fence. He's a very good QB, though not great. But he's also the best QB under 30 to hit the open market in ages.

Hmmm, Cousins to Vikes? HC says they are not paying big money to a QB. So lets say Vikes Pays 27 to 30 Million a year for 5 years, Looks great for Vikings right? Problem is the short term window Vikes have to win a Super Bowl with many Defensive players wanting big contracts to stay. So that give Cousins 2 years to get to & win a Super Bowl before losing a bunch of Defensive players. Jets on the other hand, has a lot of young players & Drafting young players to be DANG good in 1 or 2 years if Cousins signs here! Jets got cap room to sugn Cousins and take care of contracts of needed players 3-4 years down the road and a good chance to win a Super Bowl in 2 or 3 years. Funny if Cousins goes to Vikes & watch that vaulted Defense in a huge fire sale in 2 years and then Cousin stuck on another Redskins team! HAHAHA. Boomer (Colts fan)& Gio (Vikes fan)can cry then. Sick of them bashing Jets as a destination for Cousins while both not a fan of Jets. Wish they would shut their pie hole so Jets can have a shot at getting Cousins because I'm worried about Jets having to Draft a QB or even worse trading away our PICKS in future Drafts to move up spots & selecting a BUST QB! 1983 all over again? I feel sick just thinking about that happening again.
I think Brees to the Vikes makes sense. They are in a win now mode. Brees steps in and is a legit big-time QB, but with a shorter shelf life. In terms of the franchises, Cousins makes more sense to the Jets and Brees to the Vikings.
I hope it works out that way.
But I wonder about a 39 year old veteran with his family all settled in the NO area. Are they going to want to relocate at this stage in the game? By all accounts, Brees has been very happy in NO. And the Saints are still a good enough team to compete next year. (They should’ve beaten Minnesota in that crazy playoff game).
But if he bolts for the Vikings, the Jets are suddenly the odds on favorite to get Cousins.

petty, (a kid we actually move up a few spots to get) got two consecutive late season shots.. both times, with two different OCs, he was throwing his first pass of a series mostly on 3rd & long..
hackenberg, a 2nd rounder going into year three, has yet to take an NFL snap.....
& if both kids can't play, well that means not only can't this regime coach up the QB talent, they can't evaluate the talent either..

I always thought that the move the Jets did with the firing of Morton and the upgrading of Bates was a coup to coerce Cousins to come aboard.
Especially when I heard how Cousins loved the guy.

Macc is banking on the Bates connection and paying him more than anyone else. I don’t know if those are the priorities for Cousins, but both should be enticing to him.
