It all comes down to four ...

Well, we're less than a month away from day one of the 2015 NFL Draft (Apr. 30), and barring a trade it all comes down to four players at #6 overall. Lets be real, we know Winston and Leonard Williams are going in the TOP 5 so they'll be off the board, that means a list of four is required for the Jets at #6 and here's mine (in no particular order):

Marcus Mariota
Amari Cooper
Kevin White
Dante Fowler

If we walk away with of of these four, and at least one has to fall to the Jets, I'll be happy.

However if we leave one of these guys on the board and take someone else (Ray, Beasley, Dupree, Gregory, Shelton etc.), I'll trust Mac and give him the benefit of the doubt, gotta trust the man until he gives me a reason not to, but I'll feel like we rejected the BPA and went in another direction. Like I said, I'll give it the benefit of the doubt, I'm not gonna kill the pick until I have a reason to kill the pick, but if it was me, my board is set and I'm taking one of those four.

How bout you?

Finish the defense at #6 , and then take BPA at RB, OL or WR at #37 . I am starting to think Bud Dupree could be a surprise for our top pick. He seems to be the next best OLB/DE after Fowler, and may have been much more highly regarded if not for the Kentucky pedigree. I agree with you though about letting Mac, his staff and the coaches sort it out.

Hard to argue. One of them should be there. I've been leaning more and more toward Mariota but would be really happy with Cooper as well.

For years I've been screaming for a OLB/pass rusher and even though its still a need its 3rd on my list. This has to do with an overwhelming desire to fix the offense and the depth in the draft at OLB. We can still find good talent in the 2nd.

Ham, that is the correct remaining top 4 and if they truly pick BPA, it will be the remaining guy from those 4. If they want to force pass rusher and fowler is gone, I'd prefer Shane ray but then they're going against BPA and taking a lesser prospect. Really the only option I would accept other than those 4 guys is a trade down

Wasn't the last player we took this high from Kentucky = DT DewayneRobertson?

I was thinking the same thing 55. I hope the BPA is an offensive player.

I believe Mariota will go #2 via a trade with Williams at #3 . Otherwise I agree with what you have. I just wonder if the Jets board will be set this way.

I agree with finish the defense. If we can get Dupree or Fowler it puts a ribbon on the defense...and basically we can worry about offense the rest of the way (maybe another ILB somewhere). There are so many WR. For arguments sake...by 37 say these are gone

Cooper
White
Parker
Strong
Perriman
Dorsett (flying up draft boards Sean Payton drooling and has 2 first round picks)

still potentially leaves at 37 even if one more of these go before

Dorial Green-Beckham
Devin Smith
Nelson Agholor
Sammie Coates
Rashard Greene

and if one of top tier fall to late first maybe you move up a little to get one of them

On the other hand...if you go Cooper or White at 6
figure OLB/DE to be gone at 37

Fowler
Beasley
Ray
Dupree
Gregory
Armstead
Eli Harold
Owamagbe Odighizuwa

then at 37 if you want a OLB/DE leaves you with give or take one
Shaq Thompson
Danielle Hunter
Preston Smith
Mario Edwards

I think the better option is the first scenario with the defense and go WR second...thats how I would approach it IMHO

EDIT : THIS IS ALL PENDING HOW THEY FEEL ABOUT SECOND TIER QB's PETTY, HUNDLEY, GRAYSON

Some other options at #37 could be a developmental LT like Fisher, Humphries or Clemmings if they drop. Another guy who I really like, Q Rollins at CB/S. Depending on what happens with Milliner's recovery, he could be a really nice addition to an already crowded secondary.

What for ? to dust the furniture

Honestly next to not having a decent backup for Vinny in 99, this was Parcell's worst move..traded 12 and 13 for #4 for a guy ALREADY coming off a degenerative knee issue....NUTS
Thanks for reminding me.

Very true about the OL...Fisher is VERY underrated I think hes gone late first early second..can play guard or tackle

Still very much hoping for Mariota but the more Tenn. says nothing about him the more I think they want him. I think their silence is an effort to in any way not change Tampa's choice of taking Winston. I think they want Mariota badly.

Can't see Fowler being there as I think he's ABSOLUTELY the first LB to be taken and I think the Raiders will most likely pick Kevin White although I feel more strongly about Fowler being picked than White (Raiders could go Cooper).

Which leaves White, Ray, Dupree and Beasley, IMO.

I would be most happy with Ray or White.

I can honestly say if they take a CB anywhere in this draft I will not be happy.

You think so? Ill find it very interesting if the Titans take him. He is the exact opposite of the Qbs Wisenhunt usually uses in that system (palmer, Warner, Mettenberger, etc)...he usually likes a big, strong, precise pocket passing QB and even said so during the predraft evaluation process prior to the last few weeks...

It would be interesting for them to draft a mobile QB who showed a weaker arm than they anticipated at his pro day who has never really had to throw in passing windows in his Oregon offense...the kid is as lost as Geno heading into the NFL becauxse he's never done almost anything an NFL QB is required to do at this level...for that offense that requires a pocket passer who is accurate and throws in tight windows....I would be very surprised if they think they can mold Mariota into that QB any time soon...

You'll be pissed if they take one with one of their 2 7th round picks? 2 picks that likely wont even make the roster?

Still would not be happy. If they won't make the team then why bother with the pick. Take a position where the guy has at least some chance to make the team. Hell take a kicker or punter.

I guess I look at the 7th rd as developmental practice squad players anyway. Im pretty sure last year idzik cut our 6th and 7th rd picks the day after we drafted them to save cap space. :) ...or was that just our 4th and 5th rd picks? Im not sure why we drafted anyone last year since we cut most of our picks by the end of the season. Not much time to develop talent with that way of managing young players...but I digress. Nevertheless, a kicker behind Folk doesnt make much sense but a developmental punter isnt a bad idea, I do agree, but a 7th rd prospect to develop with our coaching staff that is bouncing between our active and PS roster until he's ready to be prime time regularly isn't a bad use of a 7th rd pick, IMO. Next year Cro, Milliner, Williams, and Walls may all be gone...so stashing a developmental 7th rd pick on our PS doesnt seem like the worst idea in the world...if you want an example, look at the Butler kid for the Pats last year...he may have gone undrafted, but the kid didnt make his first start in any base defensive packages until 12/14 when he was ready...guess he was really ready when they finally needed him, huh?

I get what you are saying but don't you think there are other position we should be trying to develop over CB? We have more talent and depth at CB then anywhere else on the team.
