Could have stayed at 6 and got him and didn't have to waste 3 picks for this midget.

Many have said the same of Brees and Wilson.

In retrospect, any team would draft Drew or Russell 3rd overall if there was a re-draft with each of their respective draft year.

I feel its worth the investment.

And neither of them had any character concerns. Not one. Zero.

Terry Bradshaw..
Kenny Stabler...
Jake Plummer...
Dan Marino....
Brett Favre...
Cam Newton

They had some character issues in college, but they turned it around due to the passion they had for the game.

Cam is probably a bigger fucking douche than Mayfield. Listen you and I will not see eye to eye on this kid. If the Jets do draft him I will become the biggest Teddy B fan ever and hope he makes it so they can't trade him and Mayfield rots on the bench.

Also keep in mind whom one of the two gentlemen were who helped Woody hire Macagnan, Ron Wolf, the same man who took a chance on a little known troubled, character issue kid named Brett Favre.

Yeah, Ron traded a first rounder to ATL to acquire Bretts services. Green Bay wanted to kill him and wanted Wolf OUT OF WISCONSIN.

I'am more than sure Mac picked Ron's brain on this one. Mayfield IMHO will be the pick at 3.

No. We signed a kicker. He'll draft a returner, you know, some receiver that can't catch but likes to run. I was just joking anyway, but who knows what position they traded all our picks away to get. They had better get a franchise quarter back or else start sending out their resumes.

I know . I'm joking too. Most of my posts are joking. ....And
, yes, this is a make or break for Mac's career. He's got balls that's for sure. Hope he's right

If Joe Namath was the Jets QB today, with the internet and 24 hour media cycle the way it is, and cell phones to snap pictures, and the list is endless, not to mention a zero tolerance for anything controversial, his entire existence would me mired in scandal, AND BESIDE THAT, on his best day Baker Mayfield couldn't even come close to being as cocky as Namath was, and yet, in the 50+ year existence of this wretched franchise, who was the only QB to win us a Super Bowl?

When you win its not cocky, its confident, and its not controversial, its colorful.

Only if you act like Namath or Mayfield, AND LOSE, are you characterized as cocky and a moron.

If Mayfield wins us a SB, we'll be retiring his number and erecting a statue to him outside the stadium.

Be honest, if he wins us a Super Bowl, you'll wearing his jersey and wearing it with pride.

If he doesn't you'll probably never like him, I'll grant you that, but if he wins us a Super Bowl, you'll absolutely love the guy.

If he changes as a human then I will maybe give him a chance. I don't hate him as a QB, I hate him as a person. I don't buy jerseys. Only one I have ever bought is a Curtis Martin and signed by Joe Klecko.

Well I have to give you credit for one thing, consistency, those are two of the classiest Jets in franchise history.

Never met Martin, but I met Klecko and its unbelievable how down to earth and friendly he is with Jets fans. Believe it or not, he actually used to hangout and tailgate with Jets fans after games if they won. If they lost, it really bothered him, so he'd sign autographs, be a perfect gentleman, and then go home to lick his wounds. One of the few football players I ever met who took losses as hard or harder than the fans did, but was still always a class act.

If the Jets do draft him, I won't root for him to fail, but I will root for Teddy B to be our FQB. I just think he is a guy you can root for. I don't think Baker will ever be likable to many. He just rubs some of us the wrong way and he isn't the type of QB I want the Jets to draft.

Ha ha, the Jets want to make sure of Chubb. Got to replace Mo.

Seriously, don't like this. Is there a guaranteed Peyton Manning that will be available at #3? And we can forget about upgrading our O-line in the second round AGAIN. Great business for the Colts, the guy they want could still be there at #6.

Great post and totally agree with this. I feel like the Jets are perfectly fine with either of the top three QBs and that’s why they made sure they got to at least number three. However I personally wouldn’t have a problem with them drafted Mayfield either because we really don’t know if he’s there number one rated guy. Rumor has it in the sports world that it is Darnold, Rosen or Allen that they may be looking at. Ofcourse that could be a smoke screen.

I personally am not even going to voice with my preferences, first because I really don’t have one and second I don’t know enough about them to do so and third if I did it probably would be the wrong one anyway. So I’ll just trust in the regime that they’ll pick the right guy whomever it is. Quiet as kept the one who may turn out to be the best of them all is Lamar Jackson but of course he’s not rated in the top four. He’ll most likely be a late first or second round pick.

I truly just appreciate the fact that the Jets are going for it, they grow some balls and are putting it all out there to get their rookie QB by any means necessary. Of course they’ll have to give the rookie 3 to 4 years to see if he develops and if he doesn’t I’m fine with it. Of course if he doesn’t then go back to the drawing board and do it all over again and again and again until you get it right. I’m just hoping that from this point on this will be their thought process instead of the over the hill, retread, washed out, 2-3 year QB project that turns out to be nothing.

Beresford, seems we see things the same way again. Go get yourself a beer and send me the bill:global (10):. Don't worry, they still have a couple drafts( not draft beers, nfl drafts) to build the oline before the kid even plays a down

The Jets have screwed around with band-aid QB’s (Fitzpatrick, McCown), waited until the second round to draft QB’s (Clemens, G.Smith, Hackenberg), and always seem to not suck enough to be in position to draft a potential FQB. This draft has 3-4 guys being rated as 1st round prospects, including 2-3 as legit top 10 picks.

The team is saying “enough screwing around”. We like a couple of these kids, and we’re confident they’ve got the talent to be franchise QB’s. And virtually every college football/NFL analyst agrees.

I applaud them for that. As I said in a previous post: No guts, no glory.
