I love how some fans still rip Idzik for Geno Smith. It must be nice having such crystal clear hindsight. Geno was taken in the second round, and most Jets fans thought it was a great pick by Idzik. (I've got the posts to prove it).

Now, of course, the know-it-alls come out of the woodwork proclaiming how stupid of a pick it was. This is probably the single most annoying characteristic of a sports fan. It's a case of the "it was a great move...until it wasn't" syndrome. SMH.

Sometimes you need to read between the lines. "He's the lingering sign of an incompetent GM". This was in discussion about Geno Smith. Not you, another poster.

Since the writer of this article knows how to run a super bowl power house franchise, and got so bored of winning constantly that he left the nfl to become a writer, we should be worried. Oh wait.

We have the offense we have, what would be more desirable? A mediocre defense? This article is written like a good defense is bad. I don't get the point. Unless we have an elite qb we should just give up?

Of course, to be a good gm you need to draft guys who produce more than not. Again idzik was an accountant.

I've always held that idziks biggest problem was not admitting the last 2 years were rebuilding years. He was dumping salary in order to produce this year and next just as mac did. In theory we would have huge cap space and 2 drafts worth of players gaining extra playing time. He could justify dumping Rex and hiring Dan Quinn. But he lied to woody and the fans and got canned.

I wanted him fired, but I will admit, some of his picks are still in the team.

As far as geno, I didn't know how good he would be talent wise. Who knew how good Wilson would become? But throwing a tantrum is a giant warning sign that the one player who needs to be the adult in the team, is a spoiled brat. Guys will catch his passes, but they will never respect him.

I hope this season teaches him that this world owes him nothing.

I can guarantee you I was in the 5% for both gholston and geno picks

I wanted us to trade down and draft dan connor who I said would have a better career than gholston and instead of geno I was a big fan of nassib.

For gholston, my good friend who is a die hard Ohio state and jet fan, gave me some good explanations why gholston would be terrible and wanted nothing to do with him. I started looking into it before the draft, and he was right, he was a media draft pick.

For the sake of the thread, I don't believe our defense is, "carrying us". I think they are the better unit this year, and are designed to compliment our team style.

Our offense is scoring 25-30 points on their own, it's not like they struggle to score 14. But in the bigger picture, our defense provides the o with better average field position, making scoring drives shorter. In return our o eats up clock time, keeping our d fresh.

So far it's works, but we are very dependant on the health of the entire team to keep winning. But, this is just year one of a re tooled organization.

They ONLY loved the Geno Smith pick because he was NOT Mark Sanchez. The Jets had just come off a turnover riddled season by Mark Sanchez and EVERYONE was clamoring for new blood at the QB spot. It could have been anyone and Jets fans would have been happy.

But to say that 95% of Jets fans loved the pick, loved the value, and loved Geno is absurd. It was called 100% relief for finally giving Mark Sanchez some decent competition to be the starter.

And just so you know, I saw Geno's very FIRST press conference after being selected by Idzik and I concluded then that the guy was an immature PUNK.

Fitz will do until either he is relieved by a "ready for prime time Petty" or he turns out like Sanchez and Geno and is dumped.
Some fans here are awful fussy considering this team hasn't done anything since Pennington.
Quarterbacks like Tyrod and Brady are found by sifting through "also ran's".
Not a lot of top drafted quarterbacks have enough talent to last...hello Kaepernick, Mallet, Hoyer.
