Jets get LT Clady and Broncos 7th round pick

A great trade. Anyone would be ecstatic if a 5th round pick turned out to be half as good as Clady. Now we don't have to reach for a tackle in the first round.

I highly doubt Macc would bring in damaged goods. He had a physical prior to the agreement. Now, I'm not saying Clady is a sure thing health-wise, but considering our situation with D'Brick's retirement and Ijlana being our fallback, this is a pretty nice turn of events. Clady is considered one of the best pass blocking LT's in the NFL.

We stole him, and now we're paying 6 million instead of 14 million for Brick. I don't understand how any fan can be pissed about this.

With two completely different injuries -- lisfranc and ACL.

Of course he could go for the trifecta, but at least its not a lingering injury that he just can't shake.

And for $6M? I can't imagine a better (realistic) scenario . . .

One last point about the injuries with Clady. In 8 seasons, Clady played all 16 games in 6 of them.

Hate it. . Paying a lot of money for a guy who's thirty, and has missed 30 of the last 48 games. And giving up a draft pick to boot

Great move cost us a 5th rd pick and we got a 7th back..... there isn't a T after Tunsil that can play as well as Clady.. not even close and when healthy he is an upgrade over Brick... and he is 29... Yes him staying healthy is the key... But with that said a 5th is cheap to gamble on his health and his cap hit is low since he restructured.

I think know we probably draft a pass rusher in the 1st, another T in the 2nd.... 3rd round a TE, 4td RD not sure and an OL and DL project guy in the 7th.

We also have to keep in mind this is a guy they were going to cut. No way they were going into the season with two highly paid LTs on the roster

Yes, but at least we addressed the position before getting into a bidding war for an injured player.

The restructure is smart. If he's cut, only 3 mil is guaranteed. Now we can draft bpa, and less out of desperation. If we draft a tackle, it will be a3 way competition, and Clady only gets the full contract of he hits playing time and award incentives. That means he's motivated to get Paid this year and next, I like contracts that motivate. His second year is a team option, so if he plays well enough for us is not a1 and done.

Somewhat agree, but the notion that this the second coming of the Babe Ruth trade is just wrong. Broncos have to be thrilled they are getting anything for this guy.

This move IMHO just places a stamp on Mo being dealt. If memory serves me well, Mac loves to wheel and deal leading up and on draft day.

I'am more than sure, those calamoring for Maccagnans head will cool down once we receive our 5th rounder back with an addition of a 2nd rounder. Plus w/ Mo's departure, we'll have enough to re-sign Fitz.

Over all i like this trade alot. He's 100% healthy guys. Its not like he started his rehab a month ago. As a poster stated before, if he were damaged goods, Mike wouldnt have traded for him.

Plus, for those poo pooing this trade, what better option was there currently on our squad and in free agency? Qvalie? Beatty on the street? C'mon, the season already hasnt begun and some people are crying because we just stole a 4 time pro bowler to supplant another monster that just retired?

Guys, lets wait until training camp starts to go on a witch hunt for Mac's head before we start proclaiming he made a bad trade move yesterday.

GREAT MOVE BY MIKE MACCAGNAN ! There isnt a void on the left tackle spot anymore.

I don't know where you get babe Ruth, I think you mean baby Ruth.

I like the deals structure, the jets hedged their bets. At best he's a pro bowler beast making half what brick was, worst case someone beats him out and we owe 3.

I think this is the first time we have ever had the last pick in the draft.

Give it time my man. It's only a matter of time. STill 20 more days leading up to the draft. Some team will ask for him, or he can be used as a chip to move up in the draft. Mikey Mac always makes things interesting.

Also keep in mind that if they don't renew his option, and he leaves as a FA, they will probably get a 6th or 7th back in a comp pick.

Plus the way this draft is structured, the BAP at 20 could very likely be an OLB'er, or an OT.

You don't mean to be, but your right . "BPA baby". This is an excellent trade. They might have a 29 YO top 5 LT, for almost no compensation, and 6 M

You have to really reach to not like this trade.

We will definitely be dumping Mo for less than his worth. Possibly just a 3rd and a player. If I"m Jets I would offer Mo for Cowboys 3rd and La'el Collins then we have our LT of the future probably or a young RT for a long time.

Who called it trading for babe Ruth?

We got a multiple pro bowl LT, albeit one coming off injury, for the equivalent of a 6th round pick. It's a low risk, high reward trade. Curious what was your proposed solution for our starting LT?

Reach? He was going to be cut. That is indisputable. We gave up a pick for a guy that was going to be cut..

If he stays healthy, fine. But that's a huge if
