Of course. The BAP at 20 will probably be an OT, or an edge rusher.
What a coincidence

Yes, to a rookie. It's done all the time. The Giants are doing it now, the Jetd did it with Brick. I would not have made this trade

and the rookie the giants started at LT last year was terrible. PFF ranked him as its lowest ranked tackle last year
Dud: Did he play hurt, or can you just attribute his struggles to being a rookie? Either way, Ereck Flowers didn’t provide the immediate upgrade the team had hoped for, and was our lowest-graded tackle on the year.
the truth is the jets needed to replace brick and probably should look to replace breno. so while i would have no problem drafting a tackle at #20 if it's BPA, i'd much rather plug a rookie in at RT and have the 4-time pro bowler play LT.
plus you keep saying clady would have been cut. do you know this for sure? that no team would have offered denver a pick at some point? he seems like the type of player who would get dealt during the draft when a team doesn't get a tackle and then dangles a 4th (e.g.) for him. granted i too am speculating, but i don't know how you can say definitively he would be cut.
but since you apparently have a crystal ball, mind sharing the winning lotto numbers here...

I don't need PFF, I watched the games. He had issues in pass protection. So I hope that's what the analysis said. He played like a rookie at times, but the Giants offense was not a problem.
I'm not here to defend him anyway, just to make the point we could survive without giving up a pick
Well could we have survived last year without giving up a 5th for Marshall??
It was a great move. No argument. Hope I'm very wrong on this one. I just don't want him on IR by week 3. Only time will tell
I know some fans like to bash every move the Jets make, but this is a solid deal - especially after the restructuring. The compensation was minimal, and if healthy, the Jets actually got an upgrade at LT. Younger, more dynamic, though certainly less consistent and less steady.
It just seems like you have to go to great lengths to try to bash this move.
we saved money with ferguson's retirement & in all likelihood upgraded..To me this is a good move depending on all the moves we make. I got to see more as of today we are dead in the water for this season......but we need to see the rest of the moves. If we have no Qb & are getting older that means one thing we need to be able to win now for this to be a good move

Without the injury issue, no way we get him in this level of deal.
I like this trade because
1. it adds a guy with ability
2. it avoids us having to draft for need or make another desperation move. This front office understands that you try to create situations in which can make wise decisions - often BPA decisions in the draft - other decisions - and not desperate decisions'
we traded for a multiple pro bowl LT for a 5th..
mac has been close to genius level as our GM..
Why are we dead in the water?? As of right now, we have lost Snacks as our biggest loss and with it being a passing league he is easier to replace. Fitz will be back. Our RB's are better. Our OL is better and younger. So many over reactions so far.
