Jets look to have interest in Glennon

OK, this train has gone off the rails..

i very much want both petty & hackenberg to get a serious look to see if one or both can be legitimate NFL starting QBs for the jets..

i believe that won't happen because bowles will be chasing enough wins to try to save his job..

i don't believe bowles will want to try & save his job (unless mandated) with either petty or hackenberg due to their lack of experience..

This is why you can't have a "playoff" mandate for next season. Bowles needs to know that he can remain Jets HC if the team is young, but shows progress and development toward having a solid foundation, especially at QB.

If he has to coach for his job, expect Romo or someone like that. In that case, an older veteran could stunt the growth of either Petty or Hack.

For once, this organization needs to do what the fans and the media usually won't allow them to do - play the long game, and build up the right way.

if team johnson are mandating "playoffs or bust" they should have fired bowles already..

BTW, for the folks that want continuity with our HC, i would think someone, anyone, would have called for bowles getting an extension.. because now not only is our QB situation completely unsettled, the HC is absolutely in "lame duck" status..

seems to me, potential OC candidates have gotten the memo..

with this bed that's been made, tell bowles behind closed doors, petty & hackenberg are your choice's at QB in '17..

win or lose you job coach bowles with those kids development or lack thereof..

& if that doesn't work with bowles' sensibilities, tell him to kick rocks..

The problem is, with Bowles, he's signed through 2018. So the 2017 season is not his final year under his contract. That said, you can't extend him, either, after 2016. Playing out the next-to-last year of his current contract is the only reasonable option.

i understand that..

the year before a HCs contract is up is when most/all organizations extend or fire the HC..

because the jets haven't done either has plenty to do with us still not having the OC position filled yet..

whoever eventually takes the job at this point is more than likely fired with bowles in '17..

That is true. I would suspect, if Bowles is fired after this year, his entire staff will be.

i'm legitimately starting to believe (or hope at least) the jets front office is shooting for the first pick in the '18 draft..

if that's the case, at least that would somewhat explain this rudderless ship we've been on the last few months..

.....or maybe they just can't get out of their own damn way..

We need several years of high draft picks to rebuild. This wasn't a retooling, it's an overhaul.

Yep, because that has worked out soo well for the Jaguars, Rams and the Browns.

Staying high alone isn't a solution, but my point is, our roster needs a lot of top draft talent.

I hope the team follows this advice. Short term fixes hardly ever work. Everyone wants instant gratification, but this team needs several years of youth movement building. I'm willing to sacrifice a few seasons to see it.

I'd much rather watch a young team grow than a older team fail. Both can have the same losing result (short term), but at least there is hope in the young team.

I'm with you guys, I think we do have talent on this roster and this (well any) coaching staff needs to develop that talent and coach to the abilities of the players and that will take a few years, no doubt
