OK, this train has gone off the rails..
i very much want both petty & hackenberg to get a serious look to see if one or both can be legitimate NFL starting QBs for the jets..
i believe that won't happen because bowles will be chasing enough wins to try to save his job..
i don't believe bowles will want to try & save his job (unless mandated) with either petty or hackenberg due to their lack of experience..
This is why you can't have a "playoff" mandate for next season. Bowles needs to know that he can remain Jets HC if the team is young, but shows progress and development toward having a solid foundation, especially at QB.
If he has to coach for his job, expect Romo or someone like that. In that case, an older veteran could stunt the growth of either Petty or Hack.
For once, this organization needs to do what the fans and the media usually won't allow them to do - play the long game, and build up the right way.
