Dexter McDougle with a nice pick of Geno Smith in front corner of end zone. Pass intended for Kerley. Good moment for McDougle. #Jets

Smith pass was into coverage. McDougle grabbed it at its highest point.
Get used to it, this defense has a chance to be off the charts dominant.doesn't sound like a good day for the offense
The last day of OTA's the defense ran sprints for the first time this off season, and they weren't happy about it. Snacks said lets make this the last time we have to run sprints. It sounds like they came out today determined to send a message, and that message was delivered, loud and clear.Connor Hughes @Connor_J_Hughes 13m13 minutes ago![]()
The offense is running sprints as defense wins practice. I assume that's what happens when you intercept 5 passes.

Jim Harbaugh is a weird guy, even his brother (John) calls him a weirdo, and while he was a super competitive QB who definitely overachieved as a player, and you can't argue with his results as a coach, sometimes he tries to reinvent the wheel and that gets on peoples nerves. This, too me, makes no sense. Its counterintuitive, and sometimes counterintuitive is the right call, but in this case not so much in my view. Yes running improves conditioning and increases stamina, but nobody likes to run sprints in the hot sun so its not an incentive to practice hard if the reward is running sprints. If you really believe running sprints after practice is essential, then just have the whole team run sprints. Why would you only want half your team to reap the benefits? But if you want to use it as a carrot to create competition in practice, IMO its better used the way Bowles is using it, by saying the losers run sprints.completely off topic, but i've read jim harbaugh (at least now in college, don't know if he did this in the pros) has a different approach. he says the winner of practice is the one who runs sprints, because (to paraphrase) running makes you better and he wants teams to compete for the chance to get better.

Jets defense having a good practice. Flying all over the field. McDougle, by the way, very vocal in team drills. Fun player to watch

Jets trying everything at guard. Brent Qvale in with first unit right now.
Not a good answer in my view. Thats the same answer Vernon Gholston used to give, almost verbatim.Brian Costello @BrianCoz 6m6 minutes ago![]()

Sounds like Dex McDougle was the star of the first day of mini camp.
There's a long way to go and the first thing this kid has to do is prove that he can make it through training camp in one piece. That said, if he does that and is ready to go on week one, don't automatically assume Buster Skrine is the Nickel.
I've said all along that he was a massive reach where Idzik took him, because he barely played his last year in college, was dealing with another injury, and his injury history is vast, going all the way back to High School, but the young man definitely has talent, that I never questioned, he's always been a talented football player, so if he finally gets lucky and stays healthy, I can definitely see him battling for the Nickel spot and perhaps moving Skrine to the Dime. I'm not saying it will happen, but its definitely a battle to keep an eye on in my mind, its far from settled that Skrine is the Nickel.
