I didn't get the same thing as Hobson did from Macc's comment. The fact that he puts such a premium on OLB, we didn't do anything in FA to upgrade there, and that our current OLB's are old and slow, all points me to the conclusion that he's going OLB in the draft and he's going there early.

I don't think, just because he feels it takes a couple years for OLB to develop, you can take that to mean he's waiting until a later round to grab one. I look at it the complete opposite. Because it takes a couple years for that position to develop it demands a premium player to be drafted there. The better the player, hopefully, the shorter the learning curve.

We draft OLB no later than round 3, and more than likely rounds 1 or 2. Mark me down. ;)

Any chance you think we grab more than one?

I 100% agree and I would argue by the end of rd 2 we will have drafted an OLB and don't be shocked if we draft 2 or 3 and target them when UDFA signing period begins. I see it as a positioned ignored too long in Macs eyes and he wants a premium talent and a bench of developing talent.

I also think he is saying we aren't using OLB like the last regime. We will have OLBs like the steelers so we don't have to blitz the house to generate a pass rush, we want a stable of OLBs to handle that responsibility.

It's possible but unlikely with the way things stand (short on picks and high on areas that need upgrading). I think if Macc is able to deal and acquire more picks, and I'm guessing he would go for that if the opportunity presents, then OLB is one of the areas I think he could double up on.

In my opinion, going into this draft our priorities are:

1) QB
2) OLB
3) RB
4) OL
5) WR

I think there is a drop-off btw 3 and 4. What's interesting is that the strength of the draft is at WR again. I think this is what he was talking about not getting blinded by need and taking a lesser player. So WR bumps up in likelihood based on that fact.

Ideal situation is to slide back in round 1 and pick up an extra 2.
