I know, I just can't believe the Jets are actually considering bringing him here, if this is even true.

The last guy I want is Jay Cutler. We are going to suck next year no matter what we do and I can handle that. But let's do it testing out young QB's. Lets see what we got with Hackenberg, Petty or someone we draft. Going 3-13 can serve a great long term purpose by getting the number 1 pick next year.
I'm already not a big fan of Bowles but still somewhat like Mac. However if he does this with Cutler I'm going to donate to those guys with the Fire Idzik plane that flew over the Jets practice to fire Mac. FFS Jay Cutler.
Serby wrote a good column about Cutler today. Cutler will win the Jets an extra couple of games against subpar opponents. No one doubts the arm strength and, at times, athleticism and accuracy that Cutler has. But he also throws a lot of INT's when pressured, isn't a leader at all, and gets all mopey when someone from the media asks him questions he doesn't want to answer after a loss. Not the kind of veteran you want around Hackenberg.
So without Cutler, you go 3-13 and have a real shot at a franchise QB hopeful (Darnold, Rosen).
With Cutler you go 6-10 and end up in No Man's land in next year's draft, talking about drafting the best CB available.
You and I are on the same page. Going 6-10 and getting the 11th pick is just groundhog day IMO. I think the media and not the fans are writing and talking about the need for this club to be competitive this year. I would think the real fans would give up a year for the chance at a franchise guy. I know I would. Don't think Mac and Bowles are thinking that way though as their job is already on the line. We need Johnson to tell Mac that they need to play Hackenberg. That at least will give him cover by trying to see if what he already has can play.
who are the QBs that have franchise potential in the expected 2018 draft? how good do folks who follow such prospects feel about them? that ends up as a big factor in free agency and draft thinking - IFF one has high confidence that there are one or better two or more very good QBs in '18, then you dont reach for a $$ free agent or a QB in the draft
The JETs have not given either prospect a fair shot as of yet and will look like amateurs if they never do. Really hoping no JET QB will have to be drafted next year so I won't go for the "suck for Sam" nonsense (So far another one year wonderboy). I want to see what we have in the two that are here so I believe a 3rd option will be needed for back-up.
Maybe that is Cutler, Geno or an unknown? If Hack or Petty win 8 games and we still don't like them one can always trade the farm to move up for "that guy".
I think we all agree that winning 8 games with Hack or Petty would be OK. At least we are finding out what we got back in the stables at QB. But winning 5 or 8 games with Jay Cutler or any other re thread doesn't make sense and put's us in a worse position next year to draft a top end QB..
How about RG3 on the cheap? Low profile 3rd stringer?
Sure, Bring in anyone that will lead us to the #1 overall pick, I say
With all of the big name QB's for this FA period essentially gone, I get the feeling it is Deshaun Watson or bust at this point? I don't want some retread that we know is not our future. Why not draft Watson and make him the first day starter? He's good enough to get starting consideration over Petty and Hack and at least he is a possible franchise QB in the making?

Done, $50.00 signing bonus.
So now the talk is RG3
