This kid is an underrated player because he had a pulled groin this year and those things linger. He was not healthy and he still had a good year, but if you look at his tape from last year, he looked like a borderline first round pick.
I had my complaints, but big picture, I think we did a nice job at rebuilding our linebacker core last year and this year. I even like the unheralded additions of Erin Henderson inside and Mike Catapano outside. Now we added Lee inside and Jenkins outside. For all the grief I gave the Lee pick, this is a much better linebacker core then it was a year ago.

Don't know anything about this kid but his combine 40 run time was abit slow. Don't remember if he compares to Mauldin in 40 time but his size is about the same and I love Mauldin, so there is hope. Seems like another big and slow LB to me but hopefully I'm wrong. Can't say I don't like the pick but I will say, I'll hold out judgment until I see him play a few games. I love the Lee pick, although I was hoping they drafted Lynch at #20.
Watching the tape he doesn't play slow, and he is violent. I like the pick a lot, and it seems we have our LB corps for the future.
Thats the key for me ... violent.
Its nice to have speed and finesse to cover TE's and RB's and run down RB's sideline to sideline, like Lee, I'm coming around on that pick now that I see the rebuilt LB core in totality, but this kid is a VIOLENT linebacker and you need those too, those guys really set the tone and change the complexion of the game when they lower the boom!

ran into a guy at the supermarket tonight who was decked out in georgia bulldog attire.. so i asked him about jenkins in hopes he's a football guy.. he is.. he said we got a serviceable day one plug & play LB who's got a great engine, work ethic & is a leader.. i said i'll sign up for that any day.. he agreed..
oh, he did mention he can get after the QB a little bit..

i feel safe in saying we didn't draft jenkins to cover people..
For years, everyone has said that we need a rushing LBER to get after the QB. So now that's not good enough because he cannot cover.:global (21):
I think you exaggerate a little bit. I'm simply stating what I read.
However, if you are completely one dimensional, teams just look at Jenkins, say ok he's blitzing, isn't that a flaw? We're not talking about a linebacker who plays the position, and happens to be a pass rush specialist. The report was that he knows nothing about coverage. I didn't say he sucks,or the world is ending, Mac is an idiot, or he's a bust. I simply said, I heard he knows zilch about coverage.

Over his final two seasons at Georgia, a total of 1,343 defensive snaps, Jenkins committed only one penalty, according to Pro Football Focus. That, to me, is impressive."
The more I read about this kid the more there is to like. The above plus the fact that he scored high on the Wonderlic (33), leads me to believe that he will be a valuable piece for this defense moving forward.

has alot of vontaze burfict in him.........Looks like in a few years he could be a very vocal leader in the LB corps when harris moves on or retires.
