But some of those players IMO should be resigned. You dont jettison every talented player on your roster to rebuild. This team has holes everywhere.
Creating more holes just prolongs the rebuild.
Were just spinning the tires at this rate and going nowhere. Possibly even in reverse.
Lamar Jackson did well? Hopkins caught 6 of 7 balls thrown his way, averaging 21.83 yards per catch, 131 receiving yards and a TD.
if you want to break down the roster of potential then you look from inside out:
on defense they actually have potential in the secondary, they have Ashtyn Davis future with one or two pieces as depth...
the corner depth is fluid with potential of spot starters and one full active starter in 2nd year man Bless Austin...
linebackers and defensive line also have some steady participants that can continue a build around... Quinnen Williams is the studded star potential on the line, Huff is close 2nd as an edge guy but someone who is sneaky improving is 2nd year man Kyle Phillips...
offensive line is still a work in progress, two potential long term answers on the left side...
need to replace the tight end group...
receivers there are some potential options with Jeff Smith leading the way, Braxton Berrios with the hope that Mims is that guy... Vyncint Smith, DJ Montgomery, Jaleel Scott all have potential which should enlighten the promise on offense...
running backs like Josh Adams on the psquad to go along with Ty Johnson and rookie La'Mical Perine not sexy but doable in the backfield...
after Darnold, we really don't know what to make of James Morgan...
we know Sam Ficken is not a scrub is arguably the team's best player this year with rookie punter Braden Mann not far behind... I know it is not good when your two kickers are in the running for team MVP...
at the end of the day, the Jets have a nucleus of talent... just need to continue to build around them and strengthen the re build by gaining draft capitol and drafting appropriately... we have time on the OL with free agent signings, so they can focus elsewhere this upcoming draft unless certain players drop in their lap like a Trey Smith from Tennessee in the first round... In the third round, Alec Lindstrom from Boston College...
it is never dire, it is more disappointing that the team never seems to be on the rails for success but maybe we just needed to be some what more patient because Joe Douglas does have plan regardless if that includes Adam Gase or not...
