I believe Maye has been actively shopped. Dont want to pay the Man next season.
Crowder leads the league in receiving yards, is the only weapon on offense. Sam has great chemistry with him. WTF are they trading him for? Unless the plan is to move on from Darnold on Draft day.
Poole is on a cheap deal but the best corner we have.
Tanking, rebuilding, you need to keep some talent.
I'm beginning to think Gase is staying and he has
one hand up Darnolds ass and the other is elbow deep in Douglas's ass.

we all saw Lamar Jackson do well against DeAndre Hopkins, which earned him a roster spot on the active roster...
they are trying to rebuild this roster, meaning players they don't see being re-signed next season have trade value now...

Brian Poole, Marcus Maye, Avery Williamson, Henry Anderson, Folorunso Fatakusi, Nathan Sheperd, Jamison Crowder, Chris Herndon, Jordan Jenkins, all have trade value even if it returns a day 3 pick that is more ammo for Joe Douglas to stock this roster...

We have solid rookie talent 2020 draft class...

Bryce Hall NFI List
Jabari Zuniga IR
Denzel Mims IR
James Morgan IA
Mekhi Becton - Was Active
Ashtyn Davis - Active
Braden Mann - Active
La'Mical Perine - Status unknown (IA as RB, but active as KR)
Bryce Huff - Active (Rookie FA)
Lamar Jackson - Active (Rookie FA)
Javelin Guidry - Active (Rookie FA)

Jeff Smith - Active (2019 draft class but really debuting this year)

not saying it is star studded talent but it is a start...

But some of those players IMO should be resigned. You dont jettison every talented player on your roster to rebuild. This team has holes everywhere.
Creating more holes just prolongs the rebuild.
Were just spinning the tires at this rate and going nowhere. Possibly even in reverse.
Lamar Jackson did well? Hopkins caught 6 of 7 balls thrown his way, averaging 21.83 yards per catch, 131 receiving yards and a TD.

if you want to break down the roster of potential then you look from inside out:

on defense they actually have potential in the secondary, they have Ashtyn Davis future with one or two pieces as depth...
the corner depth is fluid with potential of spot starters and one full active starter in 2nd year man Bless Austin...
linebackers and defensive line also have some steady participants that can continue a build around... Quinnen Williams is the studded star potential on the line, Huff is close 2nd as an edge guy but someone who is sneaky improving is 2nd year man Kyle Phillips...

offensive line is still a work in progress, two potential long term answers on the left side...
need to replace the tight end group...
receivers there are some potential options with Jeff Smith leading the way, Braxton Berrios with the hope that Mims is that guy... Vyncint Smith, DJ Montgomery, Jaleel Scott all have potential which should enlighten the promise on offense...
running backs like Josh Adams on the psquad to go along with Ty Johnson and rookie La'Mical Perine not sexy but doable in the backfield...
after Darnold, we really don't know what to make of James Morgan...

we know Sam Ficken is not a scrub is arguably the team's best player this year with rookie punter Braden Mann not far behind... I know it is not good when your two kickers are in the running for team MVP...

at the end of the day, the Jets have a nucleus of talent... just need to continue to build around them and strengthen the re build by gaining draft capitol and drafting appropriately... we have time on the OL with free agent signings, so they can focus elsewhere this upcoming draft unless certain players drop in their lap like a Trey Smith from Tennessee in the first round... In the third round, Alec Lindstrom from Boston College...

it is never dire, it is more disappointing that the team never seems to be on the rails for success but maybe we just needed to be some what more patient because Joe Douglas does have plan regardless if that includes Adam Gase or not...

I like Bless Austin and Poole at QB. Davis is a question mark at this point. Maye has proven he can play deep and at the line. Should be retained IMO.
The Te's I agree are trash with one exception stuck on special teams.
I think you are over rating the WR group. Out side of Crowder and possibly Mims(who I hope we get to see on the field) we have a group of practice squad level players on most rosters. One may become a 4th option type.
O line has a stud in Becton if they allow him to heal and dont cause his shoulder to become a chronic problems which frequently happens to o lineman.
Hopefully Clark gets healthy and can lock down one of the guard positions, I dont believe he's a Tackle at this level. Our center has been bad, could be a result of the play beside him and we need a RG and RT. Fants #s might not show it because the interior is so bad but he spends more time in the Pocket than Darnold.
RBs are a question mark. Hopefully we get a look at them and not more of father time inching up the all time yardage mark only yard at a time. And I love Gore but it's time to play the youngsters.
I love John Franklin-Myers on the D. Dont know why he dosen't get more snaps. Q finally flashed but Has been adding muscle and improving. I think his future is bright.
I see a plan as I have repeatedly posted. Multiple draft picks and in position to add quality FAs at bargain prices.
If Gase is in His plans or if Gase is actually in control as you have eluded to in prior post ,it's all for nothing and we will be rebuilding again in a few years.

Bless Austin has proven himself that he can be dependable... Lamar Jackson held his own against Hopkins needs to be more refined but he has promise... Bryce Hall if he ever gets off the NFI List will be interested to see where he can develop into... Javelin Guidry has speed and is willing tackler, which would redefine the nickel corner role... So yes I do believe they set a precedent at the corner position...

Ashtyn Davis is versatile can play coverage safety as well drop down to the line and cover as a corner... After him there isn't any other youth movement other than special teams player Marqui Christian...

The defensive line has a stout presence led by Quinnen Williams, adding depth from Kyle Phillips, John Franklin-Myers and rookie free agent Bryce Huff... I would like to keep Folorunso Fatakusi, see him as the nose tackle replacing Steve Mclendon after thise season... After that the depth is minimal but if they feel good about Sheperd he is entering contract year along with Fatakusi... So the defensive line at least for next year has starters and rotational players, expect a late round pick to be used while possibly picking up a rookie free agent to develop...

My only real worry is the linebacking core, Blake Cashman seems to be a glass injury prone player with upside... Frankie Luvu not a typical 3/4 outside linebacker has proven to defy the standard and shows promise he will be entering the RFA tender after this season... Would hope to re-sign Jordan Jenkins but they were ready to part ways with him last off season... Tarrel Basham has steadily improved and looks to be an affordable re-signing option after this season making him at least a one to two year signing... Avery Williamson can go either way, but feel if not traded this year will likely walk after the season... Both Neville Hewitt & Harvey Langi seem like solid role players but predominantly special teamers...

Offensively maybe I see the potential in the receivers more than most, but remember when Crowder was sidelined, Braxton Berrios came in and was the number receiver for those weeks... He is not a starter but he has talent to be utilized with his quickness... Jeff Smith has long speed, needs to develop better route running skills but he has potential... Jury still out on Mims, but the potential is there... Vyncint Smith also with long speed was working on his cuts, route running and short area quickness before his injury and surgery...

At the end of the day the youth movement is here, it is just how they continue to develop and rotate the talent onto the roster...

We can only hold our breathe that we have some good core players to work with, the coaching has to be there and if not then they need to find better coaches to run this team...

As for the sentiment of players with value if the team can get draft capitol then I am all for it, especially after this season those not under contract are likely gone... And a couple that are under contract for next season will likely be shown the door as well...

So this is the future for the Jets? We keep our draft picks for the duration of their rookie contracts and then dump them because we don't want to pay them? A successful strategy pioneered by....... err...... and.......um. Why do other teams have draft picks that perform for ten years or so?

Maybe Woody want the Jets to fail until he returns from England. Does not want his brother to get any credit.

Woody to the Queen. "Do you think you could make me a knight & give me some of that armour you have along with a white horse for my return to the States? I could ride onto the field for the opening game?"

Queen "Woody dear you could hardly ride me let alone one of out finest horses. The armour is for real men with big muscles dear. I would think the MG Midget would fit you best with a white scarf. We could have a bullet proof top made for you just in-case your subjects start throwing that disgusting beer & hot dogs they eat over there at you. I still don't understand how you invite 84,000 of your serfs into your palace dear......I would get a better gate & a moat to keep them out"
