This would be that ideal free agent signing and upgrade over Breshad "I take plays off mid route" Perriman. Schuster along with Mims would give the Jets two top receivers. Opening the door to then trade Crowder and draft a new slot receiver, maybe Jaylen Waddle from Alabama. Crowder wasn't moved up to this point because of the guaranteed dollars that were gifted in his contract, after this season that number will drop from 10.5 to 1.5 making him a viable trade option.

If the Jets want to build the offense up around Sam this would be a likely scenario. Not saying that Crowder has to go but his trade value is extremely high after being the safety valve for Darnold.

JuJu would open up the routes for Mims to get one on one coverage while allowing the underneath routes to be wide open for Waddle or whomever is the slot receiver.

I would trade down from that 2nd overall outside the top 5 but no later than 11th and take one of the top 8 receivers in the draft and if that is Jaylen Waddle so be it... Terrance Marshall Jr. another steal, opens the door for JuJu to lineup in the slot...

think Crowder albeit a dominate option is too much of a security blanket that Darnold needs to moved on from. that is just me.

If we trade down outside 10, I would want Pitts if he is available. Very nice weapon for any QB. The problem is they have to hit a home run with their first pick. Farther down they go the bigger chance to fuck it up. Sewell is the guarantee, but he is also the carrot.

Seriously @gmf1369? Where on earth did you get that scouting nugget from? Every scouting report I've read on Sewell describes him as the real deal and a dominating OT, including statements that even with the great OT class in the last draft, Sewell would have been the first T taken had he come out last year. Do you seriously think that he would be viewed as a possible second overall selection if he were seen as "very raw" and a Guard in the NFL?

Braxton Berrios has been highly productive whenever he's had a chance to be the slot receiver, he just hasn't gotten that much time there because of how good Crowder has been. But with so many more important holes to fix, I wouldn't want to waste a high pick to fill slot receiver when we have Berrios.

That being said, Sam does need some consistency around him (keeping Crowder who is clearly his security blanket would be a very good idea). Darnold has also seem to have lost his ability to throw a deep ball (he had a good feel and chemistry with Anderson, who JD felt was fine to let go, and now he can't seem to hit anything deep.

Coaching is key, but Darnold also needs to have a chemistry with the guys on the roster. Mims looks like a good pickup, but he has all but vanished with Sam behind Center, so something isn't right there and we need to get a CS in place who can fix it.

Keep adding weapons and building the line. If we can buy Sam enough time to feel comfortable back there, maybe he can finally get a rhythm going and start picking apart defenses.

I don't disagree with anything you said there , personally I'm ready to move on from Sam, which is why I was so disappointed that these guys "Jets" the first pick away! I was hoping to see Sam develop and improve throughout the course of the season, but it just hasn't happened. It's always excuses after excuses! which is not something you do with a Franchise player.

A Franchise player makes others around them better, and excels through the challenges. Sam is the complete opposite of that, everything is another damn excuse at why he just can't get it done.
