I realize at this point that most Jets fans are going to choice Lawrence or Fields over Darnold, me included but let’s look at the possibilities here. This all is centered around the Jets firing that asshole Gase and hiring a real HC (first and foremost). If they don’t do that than drafting Lawrence or Fields won’t make a bit of a difference. Neither is Superman and that’s what you’ll need to win with Gase as HC.

Back to my point, once, if and hopefully after they fire Gase and hire the right guy which way should they go? The Jets have an excellent amount of drafts picks coming up this year already and can add to that greatly by trading out of the likely #1 pick. They can keep Darnold and surround him with some real young talent and free agents this year. This will obviously help any QB show his true talent. Darnold included I believe!

Or they can trade Darnold for hopefully a late first or high second and draft Lawrence and build around him. Last choice would be to trade Darnold anyway, trade out of the #1 also to #2-5 and draft Fields and build around him. Keep in mind once Darnold is traded, he will most likely go to a team that’s playoff ready and he’ll show himself to being a true franchise QB. Just like what Tannehill is doing in Tennessee.

So what’s it going to be Jets faithful, Lawrence, Fields or Darnold? For now I’m going to go with Lawrence because he seems to have all the goods but Fields is right on his ass!

three years ago Sam Darnold was a generation talent that no one should pass up on and that said at that time our team was still not ready to have any worth a damn QB play on this team...

in three years what pieces have they put in place to help him grow?

finally might have a GM to surround this 23 year old with pieces which started this year in Becton, Mims & Perine...

he is just 23, that should be the key factor he has a lot of football left...

I just can not see throwing in the towel just yet...

people on social media are acting foolish as well stating we can not trade him for less than a 1st yet that makes no sense if he is still worth a 1st then he still has the ability to turn it around with the right surrounding pieces and coaching...

so impatient as fan base, and you guys learned that from an impatient ownership oh forgot they just trust fund fans as well...

I honestly don't know. For me, Sam hasn't shown me much, except that he might be a nice kid. If he had ever taken over just one game and won it on his own thn I might feel differently about it. That said, I understand he doesnt have much to work with. I also always believed that if he played behind that horrid o line, to start his career, that he would be ruined, as would any QB

As for Trevor, I dont watch college , but everyone says he is the next big thing and if he is everyones #1 pick and we have the #1 pick, then how do we not take him? Again, that said, we will probably ruin him too unless we get a couple more Bectons on the line

Fields? again, don't watch college and never heard of him until reading here today.

one thing that scares me is , if Trevor doesn't play anyone good and Fields does and is a close second, then which one is actually better? and which one should we ruin, as I believe Gase is back?

Absolutely perfect. The Jets lose tonight and the 0-16 bus keeps rolling along right to Gase being fired HOPEFULLY and Lawrence or Fields being drafted. I really was hoping the Jets would have gotten beaten by 40 to help the Gase firing process happen ALOT faster. Added pleasure is the fact that Cam Newton played well enough to help my fantasy team win. Today was a good day!

then sleeve in a QB

If Lawrence is that generational talent that they say, and you get him with just one draft pick, you take him. Especially if you can get a first or second plus for Darnold. You possibly upgrade the most important position in sports, while also reset the contract clock for a FQB.
The Jets have, apparently, drafted already their FLT, and possibly a stud WR. They have a good looking DT in QW to also build around.
A probowl MLB coming back next season, I think.
A ton of cap space in FA and a shitload of draft picks the next two seasons. Not including yet, possible draft pick/picks for Darnold.
Don’t pass on Michael Jordan because you already have Clyde Drexler

Darnold was never a generational talent. He is a potential franchise QB and potentially one of the better ones in his draft class. However, no one ever claimed he was the next Andrew Luck, Peyton Manning, or John Elway. Trevor Lawrence is said to be better than Luck, Manning, and Elway coming out of college btw. His stats are ridiculous compared to Darnold and he is NFL ready. Sam has some issues. 1. He throws with a long motion which has and continues to make him interception prone as it takes longer for the release and gives defensive backs time to read him. 2. His reads have been questionable even going back to college. Trevor does not have these issues and he is 3 inches taller as well as faster and has a bigger arm with better touch control. It is like comparing a Lexus (Sam) to a Ferrari (Trevor). Lexus is a great vehicle that wont break down and can take you everywhere - but its not a Ferrari.

Bottom line is - not a comparison. There is no current playing QB that compares to Trevor. Not Brees, not russel, not mahomes, and not brady. You would literally have to take Peyton's brain with Elway's Arm, and Lucks athletism to have Trevor. This is why everyone talks about him. Justin Fields is a top prospect and probably would of been way ahead of Sam's QB class if he was in same draft - but Trevor is at another level. Just look at what prospects like Luck and Manning did with a shitty colt team. Trevor is that type of QB. Our shitty team needs a Trevor. With his we are relevant in 2 years without him could be 5 with the way Miami and the Bills are building not to mention BB will get 8 players back from covid next year and a new QB and hes BB...AFC East will probably be best division in football next year - withou trevor we dont have a chance to compete.

LOVE IT and I hope everything your saying about Lawrence is correct. I’ve never been happier to go 0-16 than I am right now.

That’s exactly what this would be if the Jets passed on Lawrence. If he actually is what everyone says he is!

Lawrence is playing with a good supporting cast. The Clemson backup put up a number of points against Notre Dame. If we DON'T take him we can use that #1 pick to get a stud elsewhere, but we won't get value by trading Darnold, the QB not good enough for the 0-16 Jets.

It so tough to read because the Jets have done so many things wrongs!

Darnold shows flashes here and there but has never been consistent, has never been able to stay healthy, and has been a turnover machine since College (no change there, he was gawd awful in College and still makes mind numbing, stupid ass plays now).

That being said, even if you keep Darnold you cannot pass on Lawrence if you have the pick. Let them compete and duke it out and let the best man win!!

Even with all of the stock we put into the O line this past offseason, it is still GOD AWFUL!! That being said, old man/brick shoe Flacco wasn't getting pummeled behind the line the way Darnold does! His reads were quick, and even though he had to rush some of the throws and throw it away on occasion, he took some hits but didn't get cream back there ala Darnold.

Throw in the fact that Darnold is hurt and missing games EVERY SINGLE SEASON, you just can't place your franchise into this guys hands.

Bad coaching or not, he is in his 3rd season and still making the same stupid ass mistakes! A franchise QB would have had his own training staff and positional coaches helping him work this shit out in the offseason.

For my money, Darnold's latest injury was down to a mistake, thinking he was Frank Gore and charging up the middle into the defenders. And I still say his previous injury was related to fighting the defender until he got body-slammed. I don't think the Patriot pass rush was as good as some of our previous opponents but it still showed what the Jets COULD look like with a solid O-line and time to throw. In the five minutes before Becton got hurt we were actually rushing behind him, perhaps the injury shows WHY the coaching staff were running right and center before.

Not convinced that we can afford to have Lawrence and Darnold 'fight it out', spending the #1 draft pick on a backup QB would be another waste of our draft capital. Either we think Lawrence is 'our guy' and we go all-in, or we don't. The Dolphins benched a winning QB to start Tua.

This is not the charge up San Juan Hill Sam needs to use his brain. Becton is not looking like a Rough Rider too. it is too early to call. But lets hope he is stronger then he has shown this year I can see bad backs, pulled leg cramps etc etc etc. CHARGE!!!!!!!!

Josh Rosen - was traded for a second rounder - believe it or not but we will get a 2nd or 1st rounder for Darnold. Plenty of teams that would take the "Lexus" that are too good to ever pick one in the draft. 49ners, Steelers (might sit him for a year), Bears, Tampa (lets not kid ourselves - if they dont make the playoffs brady will retire), .... long list - dont listen to the talking head analysts. Exhibit A is Josh Rosen who is like a buick =)

Just a little more on Trevor to make you drool...
"
Trevor Lawrence seemed destined for a pro football career as early as his junior season in high school, when he threw for 51 touchdowns and 3,904 yards. He chalked up 41 straight wins and two Georgia state championships by the time he enrolled at Clemson. Along the way, he broke several state records held by Deshaun Watson.

Lawrence found immediate success at Clemson upon winning the starting quarterback job in Week 5 of the 2018 season and took the Tigers to the College Football Playoff Championship, where they beat Alabama, 44-16. He finished the season with 3,280 yards and 30 touchdowns through the air in becoming the first true freshman QB to start for a title team since Oklahoma’s Jamelle Holieway in 1985."

He only gets better each year too - its like he is playing Madden instead of football.

Jets will likely be able to get a 3rd round pick for Darnold...

a team that has a need may pony it up...

but if Joe Douglas is quick to trigger we may only get two 5ths one in 2021 & one in 2022...
