If these 5 players are picked 1st:

QB Winston
QB Mariotta
WR Cooper
DL Williams
DE Fowler

And trading down is not an option, who would you want the Jets to pick at 6?

YOU CAN SELECT MORE THAN ONE OPTION

(SORRY had to delete the other thread because I forgot to make the poll multiple choice)

Assuming Winston goes to the Bucs and Williams goes to the Titans or Raiders, we can't screw this up if we simply take the best player at 6. The way I see it there are four elite prospects in this draft (Williams, Fowler, Cooper and White), six if you throw in the two QB's, so its impossible to screw this up unless we think we're smarter than everyone else with some kind of Ken O'Brien over Dan Marino debacle, when everyone in the building knew we should have jumped on Marino.

Just to play devil's advocate, what if Macc ranks Parker ahead of White? It doesn't really matter who Kiper, McShay, etc have ranked higher. I think over the years we've seen teams' draft boards differ greatly from the mainstream experts. White might not be such a slam dunk obvious choice.

Todd Gurley and Andrus Peat are wild cards too. If Gurley is healthy or if Peat is the top player on their board, it could be interesting

I would agree with the premise, if not the conclusion, if this were, oh say, 10, 15 or 20 years ago and the only opinions that were made available to the general public were the opinions of the amateur draft gurus, but now every network has former NFL scouts and GM's giving you their opinions too, they're all over the internet too, guys who literally made these decisions for NFL teams, even all-time great talent evaluators like Gil Brandt and Bill Polian, and I haven't seen one who doesn't view Cooper and White as two elite prospects and the top two WR's in this draft. In fact the consensus on the TOP 6 players in this draft is about as uniformed as I've ever seen it, and thats highly unusual for six players. Its not uncommon for two or three, but you rarely see this kind of consensus on the top six.

Hmmm Brandt has Gurley in his top 6.

Daniel Jeremiah has Ray in his top 6.

Bucky Brooks has Beasley in his top 6.

Like I said, Macc's could be different too.

Brandt and Jeremiah have someone else in their TOP 6 because they both have Mariota just outside the TOP 6, and I won't argue with that, in fact I've consistently said for months that there are FOUR elite prospects in this draft; Williams, Fowler, Cooper and White, then there's the two QB's who will likely go in the TOP 6 based on positional value.

Thats consistent with what you see here from Brandt and Jeremiah. Both have the elite four ahead of all position players other than Winston, and both have Mariota just outside that group at 7.

Brooks is the only one who has Fowler outside the elite group, behind Beasley, but he's always trying to be different. Not that he can't be right, its conceivable that Beasley will be better than Fowler and I know there is never 100% uniformity on anything, but I think most people (consensus) have Fowler ranked ahead of Beasley.

In fact 51, if you look at my big board broken down by tiers, you'll see that I had only four players in TIER 1, and none of them are QB's, but I know they are both going in the TOP 6 based on positional value, Winston the likely # 1 Pick.

http://nyjetsfanatics.com/showthread.php/1644-Hams-Updated-Draft-Big-Board-2-0-(by-Tiers)

That was early April, before we learned about Shane Ray's foot, so now I'd probably drop him and Gregory to TIER 3, and it seems people are satisfied that Gurley's knee is good to go, so I probably raise him to TIER 2.

Nice work on the Big Board Ham. Would you bump up Marpet at this point to a higher tier? I don't think he goes any lower than the 4th, and Mayock thinks he has the upside of a Pro Bowl center.

Thanks 51, much appreciated. I already have Marpet exactly where you project him, in Tier 7, which is middle 3's to middle 4's (see tier definitions at the top of that board), and for the record I think he's at the top of that group, so I see him as a middle 3 who could easily be an early 3.

I need to do a final update on the big board this week because I have some guys I'd like to add to Tier 7 and a few risers and fallers. Just a few adjustments I need to make.

Very well could be. As I've said on other threads, scouts that are for entertainment purposes are different than scouts for teams. I could see the Jets Parker as a better scheme fit and more long term potential. Decker and Marshall aren't the fastest cats in the world but they do work hard to run great right and perfect their craft...I could see Mac seeing similar traits in Parker who is a natural route runner and is more technically sound than White. I wouldn't be as excited as if we took white, but I would t call it a bad pick. As I said in the white thread, I see him as a similar player to Hopkins WR from Clemson who the Trxans snagged in the 20s a few years back that is slated to be their #1 .

I like the potential of having a 4 wide look with Eric Decker, Brandon Marshall, Jace Amaro, and Kevin White down in the red zone

IMO there would be two obvious choices, White and Beasley and either would be fine with me

I have players like Ray, Gregory and Parker a tiny bit lower than those two but would not scream in agony if Macc went that way

Below them we would be in reach territory at #6 IMO with Scherff, Dupree Gurley, Gordon etc
