The good news we finally have people in the front office that are trying to build from the ground up, rather than pay veterans to win now or pretend too...

Look I agree when things look bad it is often the time when things are starting to get better.

But I must say Forte, Marshall & Fitz are Vets we wasted money on. Two years no playoffs & money wasted......I know, I know we needed someone to show the kids how to throw Int's & drop passes.

I guess we are saving Powell until the team is good again.

Sorry I am in my not so funny mood LOL

Gotta disagree with a lot of this...sorry butterscotch. Take it for what its worth but, while you are absolutely correct on what you are saying I don't think some of your overall points hold water.

1. Fitz: Yes, we spent all this money on Fitz and he stinks, big reason we failed this season. 1000% agree with this

2. Gronk is the best TE the NFL has maybe ever seen. We don't use a TE. Did not seem to bother us last year. Something we need to fix obviously but for this season, if it didn't matter last year, we could live with it this year.

3. Giants are in the playoffs but this has nothing to do with Snacks or the jets. it has to due to their overall group of signings and their easy schedule. Snacks was not worth ANYWHERE NEAR what the giants paid him - to the jets. one mans trash is anothers treasure. while they surely overpaid he is playing well there. But the jets are not missing a beat when it comes to stopping the run. So retaining Harrison makes no difference - hes a run stopper. that's all he is.

4. If Eli Manning was the jets QB we would probably, even with all our deficiencies, be at least 7-4 right now.

5. No one will ever admit this but revis was very mediocre in the playoffs the year NE won it all a few years back. He was down right garbage against Baltimore in round 1, a little better in the afc title game, and then average at best in the SB. having Tom Brady will skew peoples perceptions, again the luxury of a good qb.

6. After Pitt, a game in which Big Ben tore his meniscus, the dolphins schedule has been a complete cup cake. has to be the easiest in the nfl. I believe they are product of this and will not make the playoffs over WAY better teams like Denver or KC.

I think we have a long way to go but I hear you.

The New York Jets are simply a bad business run by bad upper and middle management. Fortunately for them, with revenue sharing, a bad business can thrive in the NFL. If this was a truly competitive environment, they would have gone bankrupt or have been acquired by a stronger entity a long time ago.

The smart move here is to give up bothering with the Jets before you (like me) waste too much money and time on this mediocre/bad product.

This.

I always had concerns as to whether Jets fans would be patient enough to allow the right front office to properly build a foundation. Now I know those fears were well-founded.

the team's overall success is built on individual progress...

and fans that can not see players progressing in the last two seasons under this front office and coaching staff are just blind or don't give a shit...

but I believe that we finally have the right people throughout now that in the near future all this bickering and blame game will be in the past...

A lot of very good points. With respect to Snacks, and I loved him as a home grown UDFA, but he wasn't going to make our run defense a whole lot better than it is now. MM, as all GMs do, had to make a financial decision with respect to re-signing Mo and Fitz. At the time, it was a no-brainer in my opinion. It still makes sense, particularly since we haven't regressed that much in stopping the run. We can argue all day about Mo and Fitz's performance this year, but GMs don't have the luxury of hindsight as we do. In addition, we signed a serviceable NT in SMac and have an able replacement in Deon Simon. Just my humble opinion.

I hope so. One of my fears is that the team will deviate from its course too soon, and the gains made will be negated.

Personally, I feel the front office should be far more secure than Bowles right now. There needs to be stability at the top, with Maccagnan and the front office.

Bowles lost me with how he has butchered this QB situation. Truth be told, the 2017 HC of the Jets should be Maccagnan's decision solely. If his decision is to move forward with Bowles, fine. If he chooses a change, that is fine, too. But a football guy needs to steer the ship, and the Jets finally have one in the GM position.

Bowles hasn't butchered this quarterback situation... He has been stating Fitz is the starter... Unless injured will Petty play... Bowles is a laid back demeanor and won't allow the media to get a rise out of him except one time that he was pissed post game...

The media along with a bruh ha ha of fans on social media have been clamoring that Bowles is a buffoon that needs to start Petty... But all along he has stood firm on who is the starter and who is in control of this team and to be fair he still has the locker room believing in him as the leader...

Maccagnan chose Bowles for one reason it is going to take time to rebuild this broken franchise into a competitive team... There will be a lot of frustrations from fans but we stay to form we will get to our goal...

I think next year we got a few breaks and went 10-6 when maybe we should have been 8-8.. this year the breaks and poor play by Fitz has us looking at 5-11, 4-12 when maybe we should be 8-8 9-7... Next year is a big year.. We need solid mistake free QB play and an improvement in coaching from Bowles and better scheme on D from ROgers... I think the team has talent where it needs to be... Gotta fix CB with Revis completely tanking but we have had better play from Roberts, Williams and others opposite of Revis... But if schemed right this defense is fine, possibly need another ILB.. and on Offense.. the OL is OK I think if we can get a LT the rest of the line is actually playing well... Ilijan and Qvale played very well at RT... Giacomini has been ok since returning. Johnson has played better than Mangold and Mangold played well... Our G's are playing very well but the OL is as strong as it's weakest link and Ilijana is killing us filling in at LT.... We fix that and the OL is in good shape.... QB and RB (just due to Forte's age) and TE is what we need to upgrade....

So offseason needs.
QB - FA pickup (Foles, Glennon, Hoyer.... in that order is how I would go after it)
CB - Draft
TE - Draft
RB - Draft
OL - Draft and Free agency
ILB - Draft or FA whichever yeilds the best fit.

real life does come first.. but ironically, the "real life" part, as far as bowles is concerned is exactly my point.. the chronic flat level of play under bowles is disturbing.. IMO, 12+ wins/the division would have been reachable without it last season..

teams that respect their HC play hard for him or her, not just when they feel like it, or out of fear of getting embarrassed by NE..

i feel very comfortable saying i'm not guessing about that, BTW..

if the team (defense) is not playing hard for TB, then how the hell are we in the top 5 in run defense... looks like they are giving effort, maybe?

as for pass defense, it seems the communication problem is still the main problem (this lands on the players)... some young players have either been out of position or over running their responsibilities which is clear watching those games...

the production is there just not consistent... the consistency will get better with the young ones getting more reps, creating tape to learn from and in practice work on their techniques...

are you kidding G?? how many 1st rounders on the DL do we need to be top 5 against the run?? i would hope they are, because they damn sure don't get sacks or force turnovers..

& for the life of me, how you give bowles a complete pass on the communication issues is beyond me..

besides, i said the team under bowles is chronically flat.. i pointed to that being a lack of respect his locker room has for him.. because it is.. i couldn't give two spits what guys say in interviews.. be about it, don't talk about it!!

& defensive HC's don't get a pass for his team also coming out flat on the offensive side of the ball either.. DC's do.. which bowles will be again sooner than later..

I am not blind to the issues, but they don't all fall on the Head Coach for the life me no matter how I say it you are so blinded by disgust that you will only see the negative...

the issue with quarterback pressures, sacks and/or turnovers is the lack of coverage in the secondary... the d-line and linebackers need more than a 3 count to get pressure in the back field... when the secondary isn't in position or simply not communicating opening throwing lanes immediately after the snap of the ball there is no way our front seven can dominate...

I am not giving Bowles a complete pass, go back and read what I have been saying... Is he at total fault NO, there are many issues wrong with this roster... It takes one out of shape corner to screw the team over... It takes one disgruntled off the field headache defensive end to not give a shit... It takes an undersized nickel corner that can't cover in space to give up the big play... How bout when our defenders run into each other trying to make the tackle and leave the ball carrier with wide open running room...

Injuries are a major problem but so is the lack of dedication by some of these players... Coming into the season out of shape, stating you are healthy when clearly you aren't 100%, hiding injuries so they can go out there and compete... There are so many problems that the head coach is not to blame...

Bowles made it clear that the offense is all Gailey and he did show his displeasure about how the players were performing... But to give a coordinator carte blanche then that coordinator gives a sporadic gunslinger the same carte blache then the structure is then broken... This I do put on Bowles shoulder, allowing the players to run the asylum...

perhaps turning a "blind eye" is more the case then..

bowles seems to love to impersonate belichick in pressers.. so because of that, i'll use him as my example of respect some HC's get & some don't.. i'll be brief..

absolutely all of the things you brought up that have & continues to happen under bowles do not happen under belichick.. the reason is simple, that spit doesn't fly in NE.. people in NE don't have the luxury of keeping their starting positions/roster spots by not knowing the game plan & or not being able to follow it.. not being able to communicate it with teammates is also frowned upon..

people in NE that continue to show up late for practices, if at all get cut or traded..

stars that outlive their usefulness in NE get traded or allowed to sign with some other organization.. does a chubby future HOF CB come to mind??

granted, belichick is probably more feared in NE by his players than respected but what isn't debatable, the inmates don't run the asylum in NE.. at least not under the current HC..
