Personally not a fan of spiller, not that it matters. It's also a benefit to have your starters on the team before camp.

If Forte wants to win, and his market establishes lower in the 3-4 range, or even less, he makes complete sense. He's getting older, but is not done by any means, and had always been more reliable than ivory, while being near the tops on rushing. He w won't need to be a feature back, just needs some good runs when his number is called, leading to a balanced offensive threat, forcing defenses to stay home a little longer. I see him being productive over the next 2.5 years.

he's already on the wrong side of his 30th birthday, so realistically forte's wheels could fall completely off at anytime now.. besides, some/most/all of what forte brings with him could be gotten from a kid anywhere in the draft for less money..

as far as potentially having to wait for spiller, i agree it would be ideal to have your starters in place before training camp.. but a veteran RB returning to a system he knows well & thrived in?? i would take my chances with that scenario at the right price/cap ramifications..

Spiller ran for 100 yards on the saints this year, while they wanted to feature him in their offense. They are eating his entire contract to dump him, minus $750,000
They paid him 4 million for 300 yards of offense, and he's coming off injured reserve. That doesn't exactly excite me.

i'm aware he's coming of IR.. i'd bet dan is aware of that as well..

that's why his price tag should be affordable to anyone interested in taking a shot at him.. most likely an incentive based deal that's cap friendly..

...you know as well as i do spiller spent most of last season on IR..

i'll say again, i would prefer to replace ivory with a back in the up coming draft..

but if the jets roll the dice on either spiller or forte, i would hope they go with spiller..

What are you talking about, he played 13 games.

The year before he had 300 yards in buffalo.

This is not a guy we can rely on to even stay on the roster, let alone be an important working part of our offense.

If the argument is forte coming in healthy and the only light in Chicago's offense, averaging 1000 yards, 4ypc, 400 yards receiving in a dysfunctional offense,
and spiller coming off of knee surgery, 13 games with 100 yards total, a trip to ir, and the saints actually losing cap room to cut him, I know who mac would prefer.

no, you don't.. you're presuming.. again.. unless you are in mac's inner circle, you have no more of an idea on mac's real thoughts on either back then the rest of us..

Well, using logic, no one would prefer spiller over forte. Remember, the jets could have grabbed spiller last year if they wanted him over Powell.
