he's already on the wrong side of his 30th birthday, so realistically forte's wheels could fall completely off at anytime now.. besides, some/most/all of what forte brings with him could be gotten from a kid anywhere in the draft for less money..Personally not a fan of spiller, not that it matters. It's also a benefit to have your starters on the team before camp.
If Forte wants to win, and his market establishes lower in the 3-4 range, or even less, he makes complete sense. He's getting older, but is not done by any means, and had always been more reliable than ivory, while being near the tops on rushing. He w won't need to be a feature back, just needs some good runs when his number is called, leading to a balanced offensive threat, forcing defenses to stay home a little longer. I see him being productive over the next 2.5 years.

as far as potentially having to wait for spiller, i agree it would be ideal to have your starters in place before training camp.. but a veteran RB returning to a system he knows well & thrived in?? i would take my chances with that scenario at the right price/cap ramifications..
