lol...i think i may join you in the mob if they take another d-lineman in the 1st

i'm never a fan of using a 1st on RB, at least these days. the positional value just isn't there at that point of the draft, especially given how many mid-to-late round and even undrafted RBs prove to be very good nfl backs.

i'm always a believe in BPA, but all other things being equal, i'd want o-line first and then OLB

Agree 100% with this. I was listening to Gil Brandt the other day talking about the Cowboys decision to take the Manster - Randy White over I believe Walter Payton, and it was very interesting to hear their rationale. Back then RBs were routinely taken early and often in the first round, But Dallas decided the #1 pick shouldn't be used on a position that had a shelf life of on average 5 years. Their decision to take White landed them a premium player who was a Cowboy for 13 years. Payton was no doubt a great one, but they were happy with their decision. Also don't feel that a RB is worthy of our first round pick.
OL/OLB would make me very happy in the first two rounds. Speedy guys in 3rd - 7th, with perhaps another QB in the mix.

Agree with your sarcasm, but it doesn't make it any less interesting for me.

Oh I agree. Between now and end of April I'll probably look at over a 1,000 of them . LOL

Always looking for the mocker who will have a great player fall to the Jets. Kiper kind of did already with Jaylon Smith. Consensus top 5 pick falling to 20. Probably won't happen, but it gives hope.

From what I learned during last years draft (BPA). I trust Macc's choice. Whether its a DL or Cheerleader. My only concern about building through the draft is that according to age, we are more or less is a win now situation. Some of our best players are 30+.

BPA at 20 would be fine with me with the exception of the d-line. I cannot see a scenario where it would make any sense. You've got four guys there to work around, and we have a much more glaring need at OLB. We cannot ignore that position anymore. If we took a Tackle at 20 like Conklin or Decker, that'd be great value, too. It's time to start thinking about re-tooling the line.

OL has to be a main priority this year and probably next.

For whoever would like to see it and leave comments, I posted my updated mock in the mock draft forum:

HAMS UPDATED 2 RD MOCK DRAFT (2-6-16)

I think the Jets might have some reservations about Noah Spence. Failed two drug tests, including one for ecstasy, and was ruled ineligible by the Big 10. Had to transfer to Eastern Kentucky for a second chance.

Love the ability, but not sure about the immaturity. I might go Conklin there, if your draft shapes up that way.

I hate the idea of the Jets picking another WR in round 2. My feeling is the Jets could better utilize their 2nd round pick on an offensive lineman? I believe that is also a bigger need than WR? Aren't there also many decent WR prospects to be had in the 4th or 5th rounds?

i agree the OL needs more fixing than the WR's.. still, the drop off in production after marshall & decker was staggering..

if mac believes a WR is the best player left in the draft i would have no problem picking one in the 2nd round.. plus year 2 might be another lost season (knee) for devin smith.. i believe we almost have to approach this draft like whatever we get from smith going forward will be a bonus..

if they didn't have reservations about Brandon Marshall and his 10 or so domestic violence incidents, why would they have reservations about a 22 YO kid?

Apples and oranges argument. There's a big difference in drafting a guy in the first round with numerous drug busts, and trading a 5th round pick for Brandon Marshall. You're investing a lot more in a 22 year old kid to be a big part of your future on defense. Especially when there is so much other talent to choose from in round one. With Marshall, there wasnt exactly a wide pool of FA WR's with his skill set to choose from, and available for a 5th round pick. Marshall is a proven player, who had shown in the past that he could play nicely on the right team. Obviously there was risk in bringing him in, but if he bombed, we gave up virtually nothing. Investing a 1st rounder on a guy who got booted out of Ohio State carries much more risk, especially for a player who hasn't even proven anything yet at the NFL level.

Let's stay away from any draft players named smith for awhile.

No they gave him a $1,000,000 raise and guaranteed his $9,000,000 salary. That's more then pick #20 will make in his contract probably...

Think if the talent is there, Macc will take a risk if he thinks the player will keep his nose clean. After the Senior Bowl week Spence had I suspect Macc will pull the trigger.

Macc for sure was interested, he was the second player he interviewed. If Spence interviewed well IMO Macc will draft him if he is there. Right now it is probably unlikely.

I heard one tweet that said that, and a few others that said he did well. We'll see where he goes in the draft . I wouldn't mind it being 20 at all.
