Unbelievable. This team just cannot catch a break.

If several is around 3, it's really only 2 starts or so with the AS Break next week as the first week

If it's more, they'll have to live with a 5 man rote like the rest of MLB

Yeah, but what worries me is that so many injuries that were orignally reported as minor have resulted in much more missed time than expected.

Won't throw for 3 weeks. Likely to be out longer.

Hopefully he'll be fully recovered for next season, when, hopefully with some added bats, the Matz, Matt, Thor, Hair, Neise, Montero rote steamrolls their way to and thru the postseason

Missed this yesterday -- fromt he Adam Rubin tweet I posted above, "Mets acknowledged injury in area after 1st start"

So, the Mets are trying to preserve the arms of their young starters, limiting innings by going to the 6 man rotation, but they send Matz out there for his 2nd MLB game knowing he had an injury in his left side. I know it is easy to criticize in hindsight, but how do they send him out there if he was hurt. Sometimes injury is bad luck and sometimes its stupidity. Not sure which one in this case.

Moot, IMHO unless he's not ready for 2016 spring training

With or without Matz, the Mets won't be catching the Nats or a,WC this season with their pathetic lack of offense

Move Bart for a bat....

Bring up Conforto and others.

Release Wright, Duda and a few others

Fire Long

Fix the bats and then let Matz, Matt, Thor, Hair and Neise, maybe Montero steamroll baseball next season

I agree with you that the important thing is for Matz to get healthy for next season, but I am not willing to give up on this season just yet. A rotation of Bart, Harvey, Thor, deGrom and Niese backed by a strong and deep bullpen -- especially with Mejia coming back -- should enough to stay in contention into September.

Losing Matz now limits our trade options. Niese is no longer expendable, especially the way he has been pitching the last few weeks. We really need to count on the veteran hitters who have been underperforming to play better in the 2nd half. Duda, Cuddyer, Murphy & Grandy all need to stay healthy and swing better, more consistent bats in the 2nd half. If we can get d"arnaud back and get some production from Lagares and Flores, we can still do something this season.

I want to see the Mets actually play a meaningful game at Citi Field in September this season.

What the heck is going on at Citi Field tonight? Duda and Cuddyer? Back to back?

Sounds like it was a great night at the ballpark, SG3. Familia made it interesting in the 9th, but still got the job done. Thor has been nearly unhittable these last two times out.

Gotta give Sandy credit for the Dickey deal with Toronto -- looking better with each one of Thor's starts.

Edit: Orioles Jonathon Schoop just hit a walk off HR in the bottom 9 to beat the Nationals. 2 games back.

Anyone else notice that the Mets just seem to be getting much better at bats over the past week. They are working pitchers better, getting deep counts and making guys throw more ptiches. Fouling off more pitches and just battling better than they had been. This team as constructed will never be a good offensive team, but if they keep making pitchers work to get them out (instead of jsut getting themselves out) maybe they can score a few more runs.

One guy who has really stood out to me is Tejada -- seems to be making pitchers work a lot more over the last few games. Even his outs seem to be solid at bats.

It was great that they scored 4 runs in the 1st, but, also disappointing they couldn't scrape out another run or 2 the rest of the game.... I'm so negative.

That what a 3 run HR can do for a team. We were probably like 1 for 10 with RISP in that game. 3 run HRs cover up for other missed opportunities.

Here we go again...

Down 2 0 after one inning, the Dark Knight having trouble with his command

Then Duda homers again

And Harvey himself launches another for a 3 2 lead

And in the 6th, Ruben Tejada....yes. that Ruben Tejada takes one deep for a 4-2 lead

33 coming out for the seventh
