Another thought which I can only agree or disagree to since it is not of my conception, is
the fact, (1) after Trevor is picked #1 overall, is the second best player in the draft a quarterback? It could be yes if you really need one as we did at #3 in 2018. I think the non-emotional answer would be a firm "no". (2) Getting DeShaun Watson at a reasonable rip off is a yes, but what they want would make giving up what they want is robbery, and would strip us of getting other needs. (3) Ergo , more and more I am leaning to either give the best present to Sam Darnold by drafting DeVonta Smith and Sam stays with true talent around him in protection and receivers.

Smith won't help if Sam has to throw from a prone position. If they don't go QB at #2, then fixing the O-line is a priority, even if they have to trade down to do it.

If the plan is to stick with Sam, then the pick has to be Sewell. If we're chasing after Watson, then we trade the pick, get some additional 1st round picks and continue to build this team by improving the front lines and the skill position players .

I beg your pardon, but I played QB in the single wing formation. He is lined up 1/4 of the way from the line to the fullback or tailback, usually behind the strong side tackle. The primary jobs are to call the play, block for the ball carrier (who receives a direct snap from the center) and occasionally carry the ball on an inside reverse or sweep.

What has ruined this team in the past besides Gase is the putrid drafting of our GM's. If Douglas turns that around and we build a strong team thru the draft, we will have something. Lets not trade our future for Watson. If he gets hurt. What then?

I doubt that Watson is coming here so we need to super size our "O" line and add a top notch receiver or two for the benefit of Sam, if he remains, or whoever they put under center. This "O" line needs to be unbeatable as soon as possible and I feel strongly enough about this that I wouldn't hesitate to take the best right tackle available with that 1st pick and keep building the line after that. Our defense isn't that bad. It needs help too, edge rusher for instance, but I believe that the offense needs the most attention some of which might get remedied in free agency.

You could trade down with either Carolina, Broncos, and Cowboys at #8, #9 , #10 and get your top OL not named Sewell or maybe Pitts (TE) and an extra 2nd + picks. That's what I'd do if I was inclined to keep SamD.

I'm still within 5 pounds of my playing weight, and since I never could run, I haven't lost a step from my playing speed.
And, no we didn't wear leather helmets, we did have faceguards (single bar) and the girls who cheered for me took off more than their coats after the game.
Nice try, though.

Long time Houston NFL reporter, John McClain said if Deshaun was to be traded, the Jets would be the team!
As bad as I want Deshaun (today is an "I want Deshaun day" I am admitting). The big however is, I believe the Jets have the
draft pick power, but Houston wants more!! They want two young defensive starters!
We have wasted so much effort, energy and money on busts, I wouldn't do it! (Right Coples, Gholston, Dee and others). Why? I truly think Quinnen will be a 10-12 year star!! 'Nuff said for now!
