soj,

I respect your reply. i agree with you about Hess. I still have hope for Mac, as he is a football man, not an accountant. I just hope he picks the right QB. This will be a franchise-changing draft, one way or the other.

Qb?? How do you know he won't pick a DL player????:global (10):

Yes but listening to Chris Johnson lately
" Coach Bowles will not be evaluated by wins and losses". Oh boy
" He's very excited for this season ". Give me a fuckin break
" hopes the fans buy in ". To what ?
" not tanking the season for a QB". Really?

Hes sounding an awful like Ughhhh
Steve Gutman

I beg you. Please don't ever type that man's name again. He epitomized the incompetent arrogance of that era. Of course, he was another lawyer/accountant. I will never forget this: Immediately after Belicihick resigned, THAT MAN came on the radio and said,"You have just witnessed an emotional breakdown." I think that I've got this word for word.

One other exec that I'll throw out for the younger posters was Mike Hickey. He always had the attitude that he know talent better than anyone in the league. In those days, before computers were prevalent, just about all of the NFL teams belonged to one of three scouting combines. I don't remember the names of all of them, but one of them was BLESTO. Guess which team was one of the very few not to join any of these combines. Yup, you guessed right: our beloved Jets. And who was THAT MAN's signature pick: why Jeff Lageman of course. What, you say you never heard of him? Shame on you. I'm surprised that he didn't make the all-century team.

Prior to THAT MAN, there was the immortal Jim Kensil. OK, he picked Freeman McNeil. But how about these studs: Johnny "Lam: Jones, Ron Faurot, Mike Haight, and Roger Vick. What?! You never heard of these 1st round super picks? Study your Jets history, young men!

It's enough to make a grown man cry.

Remember the post game locker room when Joe Namath said to Pete Rozelle "Welcome to the American Football League" in front of a national TV audience? Pete Rozelle and the "old" NFL never forgave the Jets for that.
So, when the Jets and that other NY team (I don't type or say their name) went to the NFL and asked for help in hiring a GM, they recommended George Young to that other team. His picks made them consistent winners and led them to SB victories.
To the Jets? They recommended Jim Kensil. 'Nuff said.

Oh, no. I had forgotten that Kensil had come from the NFL office! Wait a minute. They also recommended Casserly and Wolfe. I'm pretty sure that the NFL has other pairs of consultants now. Does anyone know who else serves in this role now?

So in your rant , how do you leave out 1st rounder 6th overall , Carl Barzilauskas
i think Weeb was coach and GM or Al,Ward GM

Sigh. I only went back to Kensil because I didn't want to feel even more pain. Of course, Barzilauskas is a good contender for worst pick. My vote might be for Haight, but there are way too many to choose from.

Glad to see that you now realize that the bad hiring choices were 100& his own doing. In an earlier post, post you stated that he has been "saddled" with poor hiring decisions. There's a big difference. And it is these hiring decisions that are 95% of the reason why I'm down on Woody.

As for other aspects of the "dead horse," I will close with these serious questions to you and anyone else. Do you think it was a good idea for this owner to attend the private workout of Mark Sanchez or any other prospect? I'm not talking about an interview when there might be questions about a player's character. I ask because there were numerous articles by the beat writers stating that both Rex AND Woody were "taken" by Sanchez's *personality.* I remember thinking at the time that this was odd.

One last thing: Would you prefer that the Jets share a stadium with the Giants or that we had our own stadium? I know that there were huge financial considerations. That's not what I'm asking.

Honestly, I never knew he attended Sanchez's private workout? You posting it is the first I've ever heard of it? Just the same, I have no problem with him attending the workout. It's his team. He can do what he wants with it so long as he didn't interfere with the evaluation being made by Tanny. However, that workout took place about 8 years ago now. Tanny has long since been fired. If Tanny thought Woody had interfered he would have mentioned it in defending his choice. But he didn't and therefore I find no wrong doing on the part of Woody at all.

Look guys lets keep this calm. Why get hot over this as it is not worth it. I happen to agree with MR. Namath here but lets keep the insults down. This should be fun like watching the Jets:global (37):

I have no idea what you're talking about? I was not at all upset with Namath. I very much enjoyed the debate. I hope it continues.
