Rosen is the better passer, but Darnold is the better leader. I prefer the better leader. I just couldn't see Rosen's teammates running through a wall for him. From what I have read, Darnold was looked up to by everyone on the team, even though Darnold is only 20. I also prefer that Darnold can create outside the pocket. We now have the perfect QB situation. I never thought I'd type that. McCown will be the perfect mentor.
Is it possible that the football gods have finally smiled on the Jets? This is the 3rd year in a row that a stud has fallen to us. Thank you Dorsey and Gettleman. I can't believe that the Giants took the running back. He is a stud, but there is no comparison in the importance of the positions. Dorsey messed up the 4th pick as well.

Yes Cleveland did I believe. Still can't believe they drafted Mayfield instead of Rosen or Darnold. WTF was they thinking??? Also the forth pick when you had Chubb and Nelson there, wow!!! Loving the Darnold pick. I was on the fence between him and Rosen and I was leaning towards Rosen but not by much.
Still can't believe Sam fell to us. I had bad visions of 1983 when we passed on Marino for O'Brien. I thought Mac would possibly be doing the same thing. He Mac deserves a lot of credit.
Sam was always my pick from the beginning of the year but when we won 5 games I just thought he was unattainable.

Very happy with this pick. I would’ve loved either Darnold or Rosen. Darnold seems like he’ll check a few more boxes than Rosen, like durability and mobility. Rosen is more of a pocket passer, whereas Darnold can throw on the run. That’s an important quality.

As much as I wanted Baker Mayfield, I am very happy with this pick. While the USC & Mark Sanchez things give me pause, Darnold is rated and evaluated much higher than Sanchez ever was, plus the presence of McCown (and maybe Teddy B. as well) means that Darnold can sit and learn without being thrown into the fire, which is a chance neither Sanchez nor Geno Smith ever had. People have also been saying that Bates is a perfect OC to teach him, and on one of the scouting reports I looked at last week it mentioned that the ideal fit for him would be a West Coast offense. Ta daaa!

Sam is only 20 years old. The kid is built like a LB . He was actually a RB and LB in HS. He has a rocket for an arm and very bright between the ears.

The guy is a gun slinger. There have been games where he tried to hard to squeeze throws into tight windows and turn overs were created, but that didnt throw him off in the 4rth qrtr to make a play if need be as the reward out weighed the risk.

Not sure yet until I see him play in cold weather. I had read he has never played in a game with the temperature below 54 degrees!!!
And I want to see how well he can not just throw, but hold onto the ball, in cold weather.
Is the (butt) fumble part of the USC playbook? We'll find out.
So for now, I'm not overwhelmed and i'm not underwhelmed.

Reading all the draft reviews the Jets are getting a few B's but mostly C's. That's pretty unbelievable considering he was the consensus top QB. The Bills are getting A+'s across the board which is crazy considering even though he has a high ceiling he also has not shown an ability to be accurate on consistent basis and he played terrible in the big games.

I've got to say , thanks Dan , for all the great videos of Sam. Admittedly , I'm not a great follower of college football , so I'm getting my first real look at what Darnold brings to the table , and now I understand why they say "he checks all the boxes". The best , and most exciting part is HE'S 20 YEARS YOUNGER THAN TOM BRADY! Sorry, I just had to YELL!

Jets faithful, I will admit I am alittle concerned here. Don’t get me wrong, I am estatic about this pick. I absolutely love it but I truly wanted Rosen. On my QBs scale, I had Rosen slightly ranked over Darnold. Rosen (10) and Darnold (9.75), I had Mayfield (9) and Allen (7.5). So as you can see it’s by a slight margin. I will admit also that I didn’t do much research on Darnold because I never thought the Jets had any chance of getting him. I just know Cleveland wasn’t going to screw this up and they would draft Darnold. Even when the Allen rumors were swerving I didn’t believe it and I definitely didn’t believe the Mayfield the the Browns rumors.

Grades at this stage mean nothing. Let’s wait until they actually get a chance to play before we grade.
The Browns are getting hammered for Mayfield and Ward. They could have had Darnold and Chubb. I don’t know what they’re thinking.
