I'm asking the same question. He's never coached at any level in the NFL. I believe that comes under lack of experience which likely would mean complete and abject failure to compete with coaches that have been doing it at this level for years and know all the tricks of the game.

I follow Maryland football. Locks is a good coach. A great recruiter and an okay coach. Really good at culture and role in the University. He showed up at the lacrosse final four. Shows up at basketball and otherwise. He's a nice guy - i've met him
But, I dont see how he would be a candidate for an NFL HC role. He is not outstanding at X's and O's, not outstanding at game management. He probably would be darn good at the recruiting functions that an NFL HC now fulfills.
Maybe he has a high Madden rating. Maybe the Jets like that he is the founder of the college football black coaches association. Maybe they like that he is really good at running the Nick Saban Alabama offense.

After the appointment Rex said he should be Jets' HC because 'I want to kick this guy's ass twice a year'. Poor old Rex can't even spell 'kiss'.

I was pretty sure Vrabel was going to the Pats after they let Mayo go. To me it looks like Woody is going to interview every person in the world that can pronounce the word football and hire NO ONE until every prospect worth having has been hired by some other team. Whats with all these interviews. Just interview the best ones available and hire the one most likely to succeed at turning this thing around.

I saw that too. I don't think Rex really had much of a chance anyway. His last stint with the Jets was entertaining to say the least but not really impressive when they look at his stats.
Whoever they hire I guarantee they need to be fired before this Halloween
You almost hate too admit it, but yeah.
They'll probably wind up hiring Ulbrich as HC after all of these interviews. It's the Jetsy thing to do.
I'm still on the Glenn train, but my only reason for not wanting him is I don't want to hate him in 2 years.
