He was the #1 ranked CB before his knee injury. Could be a steal for the Browns. Damn the Browns are having a better draft with their GM suspended

Go Jets...Cyborg

lol...although he's not currently suspended. takes place at the beginning of the regular season

More on the Pats new LS(seems like a wasted 5th round pick).

The long snapper from Navy just got picked. Joe Cardona, by the Patriots in the fifth round.

Cardona does face an uncertain future, as he has a pending military service commitment — he’s required to serve 5 years in the Navy.

That's not true anymore. If you play for a Service Academy and get drafted by an NFL team, you are given the chance to make the team in Pre-season. If you make the team, you can get out of your 5 year commitment, but you have to re-pay the Gov't for your 4 years of at that Military Institution. The Cost now a days is $445,000.

Thanks AFA, I didn't know that. These reporters need to do a much better job of having the proper information before they comment.

...also like how he was "a witness to the Winston rape." Wait, I thought Winston didn't rape anyone? Hahahaha, he did, whatever he did to the girl, in front of a group of his teammates.

Yep, good ole Saint Winston.

Now he's down there trying to add the not a subject in a murdered ex girlfriend to the once suspended Miami bullying defendant. Where is he headed next....Mass to sign Aaron Hernandez or California to dry and coax OJ Simpson out of retirement??

He just asks the player and their friends/family/fans, is the player innocent? If he gets two yeses, good enough for Rex.

A buddy of mine who can't stand ESPN told me to watch the Draft on the NFL Channel, which I didn't live, but I recorded it to compare @ a later date. Well I watched it last night, and thought it was terrible. Hosted by Rich Eisan (sp?) with his obnoxious voice, did not hold a candle to the ESPN show. Not even close.

Respectfully disagree

No Berman, Keyshawn, Kiper

Good enough for me

I'm not an Eisen fan either but I prefer Mike Mayock over anyone on the idiot ESPN panel. Gruden and the black guy filling in for Ray Lewis were terrible. Every pick was a future all star according to ESPN. I was quickly annoyed, especially by Lewis' sub...he was a waste.

Kevin, You & I can call the draft better than Mike Mayock who's been terrible the last two years. And as far as Ray Lewis the murderer, he was back in Baltimore stirring up more trouble for his beloved City. Plus I can't stand listening to Ray Ray preach to the choir like he's some kind of Saint ! The NFL draft is about Kiper, McShay & Boomer. Plus the NFL channel did not get the same good coverage of the Commish making the picks ? Like I said, I watched both, and ESPN had better coverage by a mile !

It's funny you say that because I have felt the last two drafts Mayock had fallen off a little. I listened to Sirius during the draft also with Pat Kirwan...but they were always a couple picks ahead of the TV so it was annoying eventually.

For the feel of the draft, I do agree Kiper and McShay provide the best feel for the draft, but you have to admit when they cut in with Stephen A or one of the female reporters interviewing the coaches about the picks (where the coach always say we stuck to our board, tremendous value, blah blah blah, they never ask the hard questions about the players past, slower 3 come drill, etc)...

Overall, I probabky start with ESPN, flick back and forth during the draft, but the Sirius guys are still the best of the 3 probabky, IMO. Especially Cossell.

O’Brien thinks his rookies aren’t in very good shape

Only 10 days ago, the process of gathering rookies began. But that doesn’t provide excuses in a league that has morphed from a “what have you done for me lately?” industry into a “what are you doing for me right now?” proposition.

Via Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle, Texans coach Bill O’Brien isn’t pleased with the current conditioning of his rookies.

“We have a lack of conditioning, so these guys need to get in better shape as a whole,” O’Brien said after the first rookie minicamp practice on Friday.

Some rookies reportedly groused about the heat of a Texas day in May.

“They ain’t seen nothing yet,” O’Brien said.

They’re seeing and hearing plenty as their NFL careers begin. And they’ll be seeing and hearing plenty more if they don’t do what O’Brien expects them to do.

Jameis Winston exceeded the Bucs’ early expectations

Jameis Winston looked even better at rookie minicamp than the Buccaneers were expecting when they selected him with the first overall pick in the draft.

“I told my wife, Blair, ‘I gave him an A,'” Bucs G.M. Jason Licht told USA Today. “I thought it was a great day. He knew the offense already. He wasn’t overwhelmed. He was even a little ahead of the game. He was already trying to change protections. The coaches were like, ‘Wait up. Hold on.’ You’re right. But the other guys aren’t there yet.”‘

Bucs coach Lovie Smith liked that Winston arrived early at rookie minicamp so he could be there to introduce himself to his teammates individually as they arrived.

“That’s a leader,” Smith said. “That’s a trait you’re looking for in your quarterback, a guy who can bring the group together. That’s definitely him.”

The Bucs haven’t anointed Winston as the Week One starter just yet, but Licht noted that that’s the idea when you take a quarterback No. 1. In Tampa Bay, Winston looks like the franchise quarterback.
