I'm in the minority, but let the record state that I would have taken Mariota over Winston if I had the # 1 Pick.

We're going to see. It will be fun to watch. I do want to see how Smith plays LT for Tampa and catching Winston's growth with Jackson and Evans will be fun. Specially when they play Brees and Cooks, Ryan and Julio and White. Even the games against Carolina will be worth watching. Following Winston will be entertaining.

Then you have Mariota with DGB, Hunter, Hakeem Nicks, Harry Douglas and our good old boys Clyde Gates and Jacoby Ford. I like they drafted Cobb RB Minn. There also isn't much defense in that division outside of Houston's front 7. Mariota might develop quick. Only Carolina has a defense in Winston's division. he could have some big games too! I didnt want either of them, but I'll watch them for sure.

To be clear, I didn't want either of them either, I had Williams, Fowler, Cooper and White all rated ahead of the QB's, but if I had to take a QB I would have taken Mariota over Winston. That said, there's NO DOUBT Winston is starting his career in a much better situation. To have two huge WR's like Jackson and Evans is just invaluable for a young QB.

DGB and Hunter have pretty good size too, but they are not in the same class as Jackson and Evans.

Breshad Perriman - WR - Ravens
Ravens rookie Breshad Perriman hasn't dropped a pass since rookie camp.
He came into the league with a history of bad drops but has been clean at OTAs. Perriman has the size and speed to replace Torrey Smith on the outside though the more pressing need is at slot receiver. Baltimore receivers caught a league-low 62 passes in the slot last season. The Ravens are confident the first-round pick can fill either role.

David Johnson - RB - Cardinals
Third-round pick David Johnson has reportedly "impressed coaches and players" with his pass-catching ability at spring practices.
Carson Palmer, in particular, has taken note. While Johnson showed major running limitations on college film -- he had a tendency to brace for contact and fail to finish runs -- he also exhibited exciting receiving skills in the open field. A cross between Larry Centers and Dorin Dickerson, Johnson will compete for a rotational role behind starter Andre Ellington.

orial Green-Beckham - WR - Titans
Dorial Green-Beckham (hamstring) is still limited to individual drills.
Green-Beckham missed most of the rookie camp and the first seven OTA sessions. It's not ideal for a supremely talented yet raw player who didn't even play football last year. DGB said he's aiming to participate fully in next week's minicamp as he battles Justin Hunter for a starting spot opposite Kendall Wright.

DeVante Parker - WR - Dolphins
DeVante Parker's timetable for a return from foot surgery is 8-12 weeks.
Parker's agent gave an eight-week prognosis, but former NFL team physician David Chao thinks 12 weeks is more realistic. If Parker does need the full three months to get back to 100 percent, he'll just be rounding into shape for Week 1. He'll be well behind Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills in their battle for outside reps. The good news is this procedure (replacing a smaller screw with a larger one in the fifth metatarsal) is not a long-term concern, as proven by the likes of Julio Jones and Demaryius Thomas.

David Johnson - RB - Cardinals
The Cardinals are expected to use third-round RB David Johnson similarly to the way they use Andre Ellington.
The Cardinals knew they weren't getting the "big back" complement everyone thought they needed by drafting Johnson. They got a redundant player, one that does his best work in space and in the pass game. Essentially, Johnson is insurance against an Ellington injury and can also spell him a bit without the offense missing a beat. This offense will be more about no-huddle and passing than trying to pound between the tackles.

I never doubted you, Mr. Perriman. Not for a second.

Breshad Perriman - WR - Ravens
Ravens OC Marc Trestman called first-round pick Breshad Perriman a "quick learner" who has an impressive "understanding of the game."
Perriman has been typecast as a raw, drop-prone, straight-line burner in some circles, but Trestman says that isn't the case. "We really liked what we saw on tape, obviously," said Trestman. "And what we’re getting is a guy who is continually improving. He has a good understanding of the game. He’s not just a fast guy, he’s a smart guy." Per beat writer Aaron Wilson, Perriman's "hands have been solid so far" after he dropped eight passes at UCF last season. Perriman should open the year as the bookend to Steve Smith Sr.

Marcus Mariota - QB - Titans
Titans WRs coach Shawn Jefferson heaped praise on Marcus Mariota, saying the rookie quarterback has been "deadly accurate" at OTAs.
"I am just giddy about his future going forward," Jefferson continued. "He's the real deal. ... He's got the goods. No. 1, it's his accuracy. No. 2, he's come in and grasped the offense. And No. 3 is the way the guys respond to him, the way he's able to go in that huddle and take control." Jefferson is just the latest in a long line of members of the organization to come out and talk up the rookie. Mariota's accuracy figures to be a big boost for Kendall Wright in the short passing game.

Vic Beasley - DL - Falcons
Falcons defensive coordinator Richard Smith compared rookie RE Vic Beasley's "elite quickness" to Von Miller.
That's high praise for a rookie, though it's easy to see the similarities. Both players are lightning-quick off the line with freakish athleticism. Beasley has the highest ceiling of any pass-rusher in this year's draft class. Look for the 22-year-old to make an IDP impact right away.

D.J. Humphries - T - Cardinals
Coach Bruce Arians said first-round OT D.J. Humphries was immature at the onset of OTAs.
Humphries is just 21 and doesn't turn 22 until late December. "He settled down a little bit," Arians later said. "He knows how serious this is." ESPN Cardinals reporter Josh Weinfuss is of the belief that Humphries may actually be a project and may not make much noise as a rookie. By the sound of things heading into training camp, RT Bobby Massie may have a firm hold on his job.

Duke Johnson - RB - Browns
Browns RBs coach Wilbert Montgomery said Cleveland would like to use third-round RB Duke Johnson in a Giovani Bernard-type role.
Browns GM Ray Farmer made this same comparison immediately after the draft. Montgomery called it a "Where's Waldo?" approach, suggesting Johnson could line up in the slot and flank out wide in addition to being a ball carrier. The Browns should be one of the most run-heavy teams in the league, and they have three capable backs in Isaiah Crowell, Terrance West, and rookie Johnson. Johnson will be an intriguing late-round target in fantasy drafts after the Browns seemed to sour on both Crowell and West at times in 2014.

Maxx Williams - TE - Ravens
Second-round TE Maxx Williams said the Ravens' playbook is completely different than anything he saw at Minnesota.
"It’s just a whole different scheme," he said. "In Minnesota, we were going to run power all day and just run play action. That’s all we did unless we had a drop-back. For me, it’s really just kind of learning a brand new playbook." It's just another reminder of the steep challenge Williams faces as a rookie tight end trying to learn blocking and receiving assignments. While Williams has a fairly high long-term ceiling, he's a poor bet to make much noise outside of the red zone and third downs in year one. Williams is merely a TE2 flier.

We’re down to 12 draft picks without their rookie contracts

Posted by Darin Gantt on June 13, 2015, 7:32 AM EDT

In the old days of the previous CBA, draft picks signing didn’t begin in earnest until the Fourth of July. Legendary Giants General Manager George Young pushed it back, saying he didn’t worry about unsigned picks until Bastille Day.

This year, we’re close to having them wrapped up by Flag Day.

With the Rams signing their class en masse yesterday and a few other stragglers, we’re down to 12 unsigned picks. That means 244 of the 256 players picked on the weekend of April 30-May 2 have already put their names on the dotted line.

Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota (second overall), Giants tackle Ereck Flowers (ninth), Packers cornerback Damarious Randall (30th) and Patriots defensive tackle Malcom Brown (32nd) are the lone remaining first-rounders.

There are just two unsigned second-rounders, Giants safety Landon Collins (33rd) and Raiders defensive end Mario Edwards (35th).

The remaining six players without deals are all in the third round: Colts cornerback D’Joun Smith (65th), Titans tackle Jeremiah Poutasi (66th), Jaguars guard A.J. Cann (67th), Raiders tight end Clive Walford (68th), Browns running back Duke Johnson (77th) and Colts defensive end Henry Anderson (93rd).

The deals are essentially boilerplate at this stage, so there’s no reason to think any of them will be complicated or drag on for long.

Can you imagine the turmoil, kvetching and hand wringing from NFL Network , ESPN(E) and the Mehtas et al if the Jets high picks were unsigned????

Patriots, Midgets, Mariota, though....not a peep

DeVante Parker - WR - Dolphins
Dolphins VP of football operations Mike Tannenbaum said Devante Parker (foot surgery) should be ready for Week 1.
Parker was given an 8-12 week timetable, putting him on track for the start of the season if he avoids setbacks. The Dolphins are hoping Parker can resume practicing late in camp. Parker was the favorite to start at X receiver prior to going down, but will be behind Greg Jennings and Kenny Stills when he returns.

Jake Fisher - T - Bengals
Bengals OL coach Paul Alexander said second-round OT Jake Fisher has a steep learning curve coming from Oregon’s fast-break scheme.
"All our guys had to take time to make the transition," Alexander said. "It’s like starting over." The Bengals want Fisher to improve his technique as he adjusts to a pro-style offense. Fisher remains unlikely to be a 2015 starter behind Andrew Whitworth and Andre Smith, but has been getting reps at multiple spots.

Tyler Lockett - WR - Seahawks
Third-round WR/KR Tyler Lockett has "easily been the most impressive rookie" so far in Seahawks' offseason workouts.
Lockett was selected to spark a stagnant Seattle return game. He was widely viewed as the best returner available after averaging 19.1 yards per punt return (with two TDs) and 20.1 yards per kickoff return for Kansas State last year. Lockett is also getting work at slot receiver, where he'll learn behind Doug Baldwin.

David Johnson - RB - Cardinals
Third-round pick David Johnson reportedly looked like a "natural" catching the ball at Cardinals OTAs.
Per beat writer Kent Somers, 6-foot-1 Johnson "looks like he belongs with the receiver's group." Johnson was an extremely productive receiver in both college and high school, but his inside running ability leaves much to be desired on game tape. The Cardinals have likened Johnson to Andre Ellington skill wise. Johnson is a candidate to handle 7-12 touches per game as a rookie.

Phillip Dorsett - WR - Colts
Phillip Dorsett is learning multiple positions in the Colts offense.
Some teams, like the Eagles, limit what's on the plate for their rookies by asking them to master just one position. The Colts are asking Dorsett for more. "We wouldn't be moving him around if he wasn't able to handle that. His aptitude has impressed me," GM Ryan Grigson said. Dorsett is battling Donte Moncrief to be the No. 3 wideout and also projects as the top backup to T.Y. Hilton.

Shane Ray - LB - Broncos
First-round OLB Shane Ray (toe) participated in team drills during Monday's practice.
A toe injury limited Ray to individual drills during OTAs. He returned to 7-on-7 work Monday, practicing his footwork with Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware. The 22-year-old will function as a sub-package pass rusher as a rookie.

Jameis Winston - QB - Buccaneers
ESPN Bucs reporter Pat Yasinskas says Jameis Winston has made "huge strides" since he was drafted.
Winston has picked up new OC Dirk Koetter's playbook "well" and is "comfortable making calls at the line of scrimmage" while taking the first-team reps. Armed with two oversized playmaking wideouts, a ridiculously soft schedule and a defense that's going to give up lots of points, Jameis is a sneaky strong QB2 bet. The Bucs are reportedly "very happy" with how he's progressing.

Jaelen Strong - WR - Texans
Third-round WR Jaelen Strong has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in the Texans' first OTAs.
It's not a serious pull, but it's notable as Strong is competing with veterans Cecil Shorts and Nate Washington for reps in two-wide sets. He also took heat from Bill O'Brien five weeks ago for being out of shape. The coaching staff has been talking up Washington while Strong rehabs on the sideline.

Jaelen Strong - WR - Texans
Third-round WR Jaelen Strong (hamstring) returned to practice Tuesday.
Strong had been sidelined since the first set of OTAs. It's nice to see him back for this week's mandatory minicamp, as he has a position battle to win. The No. 2 spot opposite DeAndre Hopkins is up for grabs between Strong, Nate Washington and Cecil Shorts.

T.J. Yeldon - RB - Jaguars
ESPN's Adam Caplan says T.J. Yeldon is not only expected to start, but could wind up being a three-down player.
The Jaguars have said as much publicly. Yeldon was one of the top pass-protecting backs in this draft class and also has good hands as a receiver. Volume is going to be on his side even if offensive efficiency isn't.

Matt Blanchard - QB - Packers
ESPN Packers reporter Rob Demovsky said QB Matt Blanchard is "so far ahead of Brett Hundley at this point."
Once considered a first-round talent, Hundley failed to improve his stock in his junior year at UCLA, falling all the way to the fifth round of the 2015 draft. Now he's a distant fourth on the Packers' depth chart behind Blanchard, an undrafted free agent who has yet to appear in an NFL game. Scott Tolzien is locked into the No. 2 spot behind last year's NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers.
