the clever tactic for the Jets would be to let Woody have some drinks with a reporter and drop some dis-information......

that, however, involves a statement in which "clever" appears within a few words of "Woody" which may be a reach

Someone on this board said that Kiper / McShay / ESPN don't have a clue about the draft ? Well, I watched the NFL Channel yesterday and Mayock and the rest are even worse ! They still have Shane Ray OLB being picked by the Jets @ 6 with Cooper WR still on the board. Say what.....

possibly...plus why do we all assume hes talking about first pick. ??

.plenty of other "targets" all throughout draft..

Everyone's talking right now. Not a big deal. The Titans are saying how much they love Mariota, and they're gauging interest from other teams about a trade, per today's reports. It means zero. All of it. Until the draft starts.

Actually, now is the time for misinformation. The Jets have done a very good job of directly and indirectly laying out several scenarios for their draft plans. Which one(s) are actually true? All teams do this. It's part of the "game".

I never heard of it. But the key question may be the definition of "years." The Heisman QB bust history is about 50 years. How about the redhead history?

I guess it's a matter of semantics then, because I don't consider Carson Parmer a bust. Nor do I believe Cam Newton is a bust. I don't consider them franchise qb's(Elway, Favre, Marino, etc), but you can certainly win with them just like the Ravens won with a qb the caliber of Flacco.

Don't think it's semantics. I think the jury is still out on Newton. Only been in the league 4 years, made the playoffs twice, playoff record 1-2. Not really bad, but not so good either. As for Palmer, since the Bengals spent a #1 overall pick on him, he really does need to be considered a bust for them. Never won a single playoff game. A QB like that can be had in the 3rd or 4th round.

Even if you consider guys like RG3, Newton, Bradford, Carson Palmer, Vinny, and Flutie all busts (arguable on pretty much all accounts), was Jim Plunkett a bust?

My point about redheaded QBs is that it has no more or no less viability as a category for analysis as does this. And there may even be more evidence to suggest it is the case.

I'm not saying I believe in the redheaded QB stuff. What I'm saying is that it is as viable as the Heisman standard, if not more so. So to me, neither are legitimate factors.

PROBABLY the funniest bit he ever did. I still piss in my pants laughing at that one...

"You are an expert at crosswords..give me another word for BLABBERMOUTH"

"CHESTER BARNES..he so tall and slim...I guess a man doesn't have to get fat if he doesn't want to"
It is hilarious. I still LOL every time I see it too.

For the team that blew their #1 overall pick on him, the Pats, he absolutely was a bust. Did the Pats wind up thinking that Plunkett was a good investment of their pick when he won 2 SB's for the Raiders? And that's what you have to look at when considering whether to use a high draft pick on a guy. And did Testaverde do any good for the Bucs, who also blew a #1 overall pick on him, when he brought the Jets to the AFC champ game? If the Jets blow their #6 pick on one of this year's two Heisman QB's and he wins the SB for some other team 10 years from now, would that have been a good investment of the pick?

:) I always laugh when people say he's a 1 year wonder...really?

For those who weren't aware -

Didn't see the game but from the highlights shown here, did the QB throw to anyone else, LOL? He is a beast and I would love to have him. White or Cooper, doesn't matter to me.

It just seems arbitrary, like applying hair color or astrological sign to performance.

Players have zero control over who the Downtown Athletic Club awards. A player isn't suddenly a better NFL-ready QB because they finished second in the voting instead of first. Honestly, the argument makes virtually no sense.

If it was a situation where no QB who ever was a finalist for the Heisman ever panned out, then maybe there's something there. But some elite QBs have finished second. If Peyton Manning had gotten a couple hundred more votes in 1997, would he have been an NFL bust because of it?

I've resigned myself we aren't getting Cooper, but White tore Bama a new a hole last season, so I'd be happy to have him on my team for a change
I'm good in this order of players at #6 : Fowler Jr., Cooper, White, Beasley or Mariota. Mariota being a last resort and long shot here. Winston would be the #1 option obviously be he is going to Tampa. If this is true and its probably not (total chess game move and smokescreen), they go WR and we have Marshall, Decker, (Cooper or White), Kerley and choose between the two rookies from last year that were hurt. Maybe both make the team. That is a potent group to throw to and add in Amaro, Cumberland and our RBs. WOW, now were talking fire power for any QB to make something happen. No more excuses from any player, coach, GM, owner or anyone with this group!
