Saturday morning's wake-up call, Day 17 of New York Jets training camp:
What's happening: With the first preseason game in the books (they might want to remove and burn most of the pages), the Jets are back on the practice field in Florham Park, New Jersey. It starts with 1:50 stretching, followed by special teams. Officially, practice begins at 2:20. It's open to the public (with a valid ticket).
What's hot: This will be the fans' first, up-close look at new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who begins his first full week of practice in the starter's role. It'll be interesting to see if Geno Smith, who had jaw surgery on Thursday, makes an appearance at practice. ... A couple of injuries bear watching: Tight end Jace Amaro (shoulder) and linebacker Erin Henderson (knee). Henderson's injury isn't serious and he shouldn't miss much time. ... Will Muhammad Wilkerson return? Mo was a no-go in Motown, and he's approaching two weeks since his hamstring injury. ... You can bet coach Todd Bowles will have them working on tackling drills. ... The first practice after a game usually is telling with regard to depth chart changes. There shouldn't be any major shakeups. The most competitive position is right guard, but Willie Colon might have nailed down the job with a solid outing in Detroit.
