add to that the opposing QB will have 2-3 second to get ri of the ball if that which means our db's will be more impactful and so will pryor in the run game providing any rb makes it past our dline.
You know this how?
How do you know we won't have enough money? (especially since we're not doling out franchise QB $$)
How do you know all three are in the team's long-term plans?
How do you know there isn't a devastating injury awaiting us?
I realize these are rhetorical questions, and you can just as easily ask me "how do you know this won't blow up in our face?"
If Cooper was still on the board, I think the Jets would have taken him over Leonard. Maybe the same with Fowler. But it appears they simply didn't rate White as good a value at 6 as Leonard was.
In the end, I want as much talent on the team as possible. If that leads to the problem of "how do we pay it all?" IMO that's not a bad problem to have . . .
It's funny you mention that because White responded to that question on First Take I believe. I stated that he was operating on a offense that was for him to stay on one side of the field. He did what he was told and made it work. He stated that in the Alabama game, they did move him around the field and he crushed Bama. He stated that he can play anywhere on the field against anyone and I believe him. WR is not like a QB, especially not in todays NFL.The more I read about Kevin White the less I like. He has not been asked to run many different patterns, lines up on the same side almost 90% of the time or more, and plays in a system that is not an NFL ready. I don't think that it is a given that Kevin White will be a stud.
Is anyone complaining in INDY they took Dorsett, with MANY defensive needs..NO TAKE BPA..anyone complaining about this pick..to be honest..I wouldnt want running my team...

Rookie WRs can't make that much of a difference to a average QB by themselves. But with that rookie WR and a group of beast WRs, they can. We have Marshall (HOF quality #1 WR, IMO), Decker (excellent #2 WR), Kerley (excellent #3 WR), Amaro (developing into an excellent #1 TE), Cumberland (nice quality back up TE) and a RB by committee that is pretty formidable. With the addition of White to the mix, it can only help Geno, Fitz or whatever QB. It definitely won't hurt them.I know I said this in another post (perhaps to you), but think about the reality around us:
2014 RD1 WRs:
Sammy Watkins
Mike Evans
OBJ
Brandin Cooks
Kelvin Benjamin
Which of those WRs made their QB "better"?
EJ was still benched, even with Watkins to throw to
TB still felt the need to get a controversial QB, even though last year's squad had Evans to throw to
OBJ played lights out, but it was FAR from Eli's best year
Cooks was fun to watch, but would he have produced the same going from Brees to Geno?
Benjamin was a monster in Carolina, and I'd say he's the best example of a QB "benefitting" from him being on the roster
None of those guys were flops, and White would be lucky to match their success. Yet they weren't the magic cure-all you seem to think White would have been.
I'll say it again -- I FULLY expect Williams to have bigger impact on our team than White would have, or even than White will in Chicago with a "real" QB throwing him the ball . . .
There were lots of complaints this morning on Sirius about this pick. Colts have Andre Johnson, Moncreif, and Hilton and need help on the oline and everywhere on defense (especially with older Mathis coming off an achilles). I dont think many Colts fans are happy with this pick.
On paper they do and it appears they do period. QBs will have a very hard time even throwing the ball against us and RBs won't get much love in the run game.I think that right now, the Jets have on paper the best defense in football. Keep Mo and add another pass rusher, and they could be a historic defense.
What I like about this is that it gives the Jets a clear identity. Since the firing of Kotite, the Jets have only hired defensive head coaches. They have used a disproportionate number of draft picks lately on defense. This is how you create an identity.
The Jets right now, big picture, as a franchise, very much have an identity. And they could have a defense that is absolutely frightening to opponents.

Were not talking about us having a young franchise QB like Luck, Wilson or Newton. Were talking about the Jets having average or worse QBs that can use all the help they can get. There still are a lot of quality WRs left to grab and hopefully we get one. I'm thinking Strong or DGB. So yes Williams can and probably will have more of an impact with the defense then White would with us. But did we need Williams? That a question we all may have different answers on. I think we all can agree we needed White.
I honestly don't mean to belabor the point, I just don't understand your logic.
You openly admit Williams will likely have a bigger impact on the team, that White would only be a small cog in a larger offensive machine, and there's still lots of WR talent out there. Yet somehow that = "we needed White"?
If you want to say we'll need WRs down the line, fine. But we have no idea what the future holds (injuries, unexpected improvements, released players, etc.) If Marshall gets hurt, maybe we regret not taking White. But if Mo gets hurt we'll be THRILLED we took Williams. That's why we can only look at what we have today, and today we own the rights to the consensus best player of the entire draft. What we do with that remains to be seen . . .

Cant wait to see this board when we go defense again at 37opcorn:
I will post this again and even started a thread on it because I did a little more research:I honestly don't mean to belabor the point, I just don't understand your logic.

I see 55's point about taking another DLinemen.
I see the view of many seeing the BPA.
The deciding factor is what position does the BPA play. If you're loaded at WR, it's crazy to be the Matt Millen Lions. This pick is a good one, because he's a Dlinemen.
Remember in '86 when #99 & #73 went down after our 10 game winning streak? Had Chris Doleman been picked in the preceding draft to step in, I bet we don't lose our last 5 games.
the other question is where are we futile...nowhere. BPA made lots of sense...IMO.
We'll probably draft Eddie Goldman from FSU
grand canyon gap between williams and goldman
55 loves receivers early. I think he was all over Cooks last year. I'm sure it is a factor in his analysis that White is a WR.
