Official 2017 Draft Order

With one week to go the Jets are currently drafting #6 overall.

To the far right is the strength of schedule and that is the first tiebreaker. The teams with the lower SOS indicates a weaker schedule, therefore they are presumed the weaker teams and they in turn win the tiebreaker.

  1. BROWNS (1-14) ---- .547
  2. 49ERS (2-13) ------- .502
  3. BEARS (3-12) ------- .521
  4. JAGUARS (3-12) ---- .534
  5. RAMS (4-11) -------- .502 (Pick Traded to Titans)
  6. NY JETS (4-11) ---..- .517
  7. CHARGERS (5-10) -- .547
NOTE: The Browns and 49ers are locked in at 1 & 2, though who picks #1 is TBD because the 49ers have the SOS tiebreaker.

As for stuff that is pertinent to the Jets:

* SOS indicates the Jets are locked-in ahead of SD, so it would appear that we can finish no worse than sixth.

* A Jets loss combined with a Rams win and we would leap the Rams by virtue of a poorer record, however if the Rams lose the current SOS indicates that we are locked in behind them in the draft order.

* A Jets loss combined with a Jaguars win and we would win the SOS tiebreaker there, thus leaping Jacksonville in the draft order.

* A Jets loss combined with a Bears win and we currently hold a slim SOS advantage to leap them too, however the margin is so small that I can't be sure if the SOS will still hold following next weeks games?

SOS Source: SB Nation

Week 17 schedules for the above games that matter:

Jets vs Bills
Rams vs Cardinals
Jaguars @ Colts
Bears @ Vikings

Note: The Jets and Bears are playing teams with an identical 7-8 record next week, but if the Jets lose that would mean the Bills finish 8-8, whereas if the Bears win that would mean the Vikings finish 7-9, and because the SOS margin is so small, its impossible for me to know if that scenario would flip the SOS in the Bears favor? It will be close, so we just have to wait and see.

Mods, please pin this thread as it is the ONLY THING that really matters for the Jets this week.

Thanks

It's the only thing that has mattered since Halloween. Unfortunately, all of those teams (except the Rams who traded their pick) are firmly ensconced in tank mode so it seems very unlikely to me that we are moving up.

I think the Jags have a good shot to beat the Colts. I am also certain the Jets do not have a prayer in hell of beating the Bills. Rex Ryan certainly knows by now that he should never have lost to the Jets this season. The Bills are simply a better team than the Jets. So there's reason to be optimistic that the Jets may still get the 5th overall.

Still Would Rather See a Win Sunday

Still Would Rather See a Win Sunday

Does it really make that much of a difference?

Here's a list of Jets drafted in the top 10 since they moved across the river:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leonard Williams
Dee Milliner
Mark Sanchez
Vernon Gholsten
D'Brickashaw Ferguson
Dewayne Robertson
James Farrior
Keyshawn Johnson
Kyle Brady
Marvin Jones
Blair Thomas
Dave Cadigan
Al Toon
Russell Carter

All in all, I would rather see a win Sunday. We've only had 1 this year and it's the Bills.

Turns out it wouldn't have mattered if we lost, the teams in front of us all lost too, so we were locked in at #6 either way.
