Tackles at the Senior Bowl were saying that Sam Williams "could not be blocked"... if you're not sold on Thibs or Walker, there are choices in round 2, and this draft is so deep at every spot, Sam would be like getting a first rounder.
Sam Williams has character concerns will be off a lot of teams boards just for that reason alone.

i have heard that, but i haven't heard anything from this past season... in fact, just the opposite. I wonder if they are behind him?
But if he off other boards, it means we can still grab him with a later pick.

Jets don't have him on their board.

Jets already have a comprehensive writeup on Sam Williams from the Senior Bowl. If is listed as a OLB, for us he would be considered a heavy linebacker. We did not send any defensive position coaches from the front seven down to Mississippi Pro Day. There are other front seven personnel that could of been probed but weren't. DE Tariqious Tisdale , LB Chance Campbell (who actually fits better in our defense). Players like CB Keidron Smith, ILB Lakia Henry all make sense but they don't fit the mold the team is looking for.

Team is looking for Power DT, Wide 9 EDGE, Speed Rush End.
Quinnen Williams, Solomon Thomas, Nathan Sheperd, Jonathan Marshall, Sheldon Rankins are all Power DTs.
JFM, Bryce Huff, Bradlee Anae and Tim Ward are Speed Rush End.
Jacob Martin is a Wide 9 DE he is the only one on our roster.

A player like Travon Walker his athleticism could line up at DT, Speed Rush End and Wide 9 DE.
Another player like Walker outside the first is Boye Mafe.
A player that best fits Jacob Martin role is Penn State Jessie Luketa. A linebacker that played DE at the Senior Bowl and impressed.

The trouble with drafting like this is you had better plan on keeping your HC around for a while because if you fire him, the next guy might have to tear down the whole thing and start fresh unless they entend to run a similar scheme.

not really because a Wide 9 DE converts easily to OLB in 4-3 Under or ILB in 3-4.
and they plan to keep Saleh around for awhile anyways.
I think this makes drafting for need a flexible long term option for the team.

Let’s assume for a minute we have picks 10, 16 and 19; there is so much JD could do both short and long term for this roster. WR(Dotson) IOL(Johnson), edge (Boye) in 1st then maybe TE(McBride) and DL (Jones/Winfrey) in 2nd. 3rd and 4th grab LB, S and RT or CB. Pretty exciting stuff especially picks 16 & 19 because they might be sweet spots for Dotson/Boye/Zion.

Lets say the Jets trade the 4th pick to whomever does NOT matter at this point. But the Draft falls into place for them and at 10 they can get this type of versatile defensive lineman: Georgia Travon Walker

Walker is a versatile edge defender with exceptional length and athleticism. He primarily aligned on the edge, but played inside, too. As a pass rusher, he isn't ultra-explosive, but he's smooth and powerful. He loves to widen the offensive tackle with his upfield rush before using his inside arm to jolt and walk him back to the QB. He also flashes a quick swipe move to create pressures. He's very disruptive, but he's left some sacks on the field because of missed tackles. The Bulldogs dropped him into coverage quite a bit, and he's made some incredibly athletic plays, including one particular pass breakup versus Florida. Against the run, he dominates with his length and power at the point of attack. He destroys tight ends. I believe Walker's best football is ahead of him.

Robert Saleh & Jeff Ulbrich can create multiple fronts with him on the field. Can lineup at Interior Defensive Tackle, can lineup at Book End or Rush End while at the same time can line up at Wide 9 position. Gives the defensive line flexibility to another power.

The draft would need to fall like this to have any hope for him to fall to 10.

In no particular order but these top prospects would need to go as the 9 first picks for Walker to be there at 10:

Michigan Aidan Hutchinson

Oregon Kayvon Thibodeaux
Cincinnati Ahmad Gardner
Notre Dame Kyle Hamilton
NC State Ickem Ekwonu
Alabama Evan Neal
Liberty Malik Willis

Mississippi State Charles Cross

These above 8 have been talked about for some time as the Top Dogs in this draft.
But one of these four could be the ninth player to join that group
Ohio State Garrett Wilson

Northern Iowa Trevor Penning
Alabama Jameson Williams
Purdue George Karlaftis

This is a longshot of course but trading down from 4 makes too much sense and if Travon is a target from 10th it would likely cost a 4th to move up to 8th to secure their guy. There are other players of Travon's magnitude that make sense for the Jets like Boye Mafe from Minnesota and even a Logan Hall from Houston both have the same length and athleticism but might not have the same flexibility in position ability but both could play book end and wide 9.

Travon Walker aka Vernon Gholston would be another blunder for the Jets. Trade the 10th. Keep the 4th.

see this is the wrong perception, Travon Walker is far from Vernon Gholston. Travon has produced steadily in a loaded defense over his time at Georgia. His testing is above board and his football IQ both as an interior rusher as well as an edge guy who can leak out into the linebacker role and cover tight ends in space. Gholston could not do that, not even one aspect. but to each his own, you don't like him for whatever reason but your statement of comparing him is way off basis.

Just add him to my list of players from THE Ohio State University who couldn't make it in the pros. Their collegiate system is structured so that they don't have to think or develop beyond their natural abilities and the sophistication of the pro game is beyond them. Chris Ward couldn't remember the snap count. Bob Ferguson, a running back who was only thrown for a loss three times in three years at OSU flopped because he only had to learn three plays as a running back, flopped as a first round pick by the Steelers because he couldn't learn more than three plays or how to pass block or catch passes.
And that is why I'm against taking a WR, or any other player, from OSU in this year's draft.

taking a deeper dive into the hype of Drake London. Initially stated he is a 6'5" receiver to only be measured 6'4"

his scouting breakdown:

Big, long possession receiver with the ability to play outside or from the slot. London lacks desired top-end speed and separation quickness to open clear throwing windows but plays a mature, savvy brand of ball. The game slows down for him when the ball comes out. London was a top-flight basketball player so angles to the ball, body positioning and high-pointing come very naturally to him, turning a 50-50 ball into a 70-30 advantage. While he has the size and skill to dominate the catch phase, his one-speed route-running and lack of separation burst means a career full of contested catches. London's pro career would benefit from playing with a diverse receiving corps that allows play-callers to play to London's strengths.

What makes matters worse for his draft stock this individual suffered an ankle injury that required surgery, to give himself time to heal he chose not to participate in team's pro day but create his own day thereafter. The red flag comes out when he does not hold up to that day and pushes it back further but stating it is a hamstring an injury that is known and won't be questioned. Problems is for a receiver a hammy is worse then just stating your are not comfortable with the recovery of your ankle which the majority of the personnel around the league are stating.

Buyer Beware

the only players from Ohio State that seem to do well at this level are the corners and offensive lineman. even Jeremy Ruckert looks like a willing blocker but has sloppy footwork, his balance is off kilter when absorbing contact.

that is why even though he is a local Long Island player, I have him off our board.

Jets looking at Stingley Jr. concerns me. That means they are considering a CB in the first round that will be the 6th 1st round corner they have gone to pro day to watch and work out.

Ahmad Gardner
Derek Stingley Jr.
Trent McDuffie (technically add in Kyler Gordon also here)
Kaiir Elam
Andrew Booth Jr.
