THIS is why I cannot stand ESPN. Their headline?

"Jets take Hackenberg, muddling QB situation"

EVERY YEAR they do this. They bash the Jets for not having a QB, and then when the Jets draft a QB, they bash the Jets for muddying the waters by adding another QB to the mix.

So the Jets addressing a position you point out as a need is bad for them. Got it, Bristol U.

Someone just answer this question for me, if the Jets felt they needed to draft a QB high in the draft then why didn't they just draft Lynch? I thought when they passed on Lynch that maybe they had some faith in Petty. Well obviously not because they draft a QB in the second round. So why not Lynch if finding a franchise QB was that much of an issue for us? This just doesn't make sense to me. Of course it doesn't need to but DAMN, FUCK and SHIT!

Jets should take either Kendall Fuller or Yannick Ngakoue with the 83rd pick...

Because the Jets had Hackenberg higher on their board than they had Lynch.

Jets saw Paxton Lynch as a 3 year developmental prospect... Basically like I said previously that he is Bryce Petty one year behind...

Think about it do you really want to pay a prospect who is still developing a team option of $22 Million?

We will just have to see. Over reaction won't help. He has all the measurables. Maybe not between the ears, but we will see in a few years.

I'm not sure it's overreaction at all.

I'm going off facts. PFF has him rated as undraftable. He never threw for 3,000 yards in college. He never attained a 60% completion pct in college, despite bigger windows than what he'll see in the NFL. He never threw better than 20 TD's in college. He has miles and miles of tape of missing wide open receivers or thowing a go-route 5 yards out of bounds. Terrible, and I mean terrible, accuracy.

This isn't overreaction. I would love to be high-fiving with everyone right now. Just being objective and staying true with what I've been saying about Hack for two years.

I don't see how that could be the case but oh well. I hope this kid proves me wrong because right now, I'm not felling this pick at all. The Darren Lee pick I understood but wished it was Lynch. This pick here I don't like at all.

wait, all years you talk about hack as the possible top pick in the draft. bet you never heard of lynch until a few weeks ago. now you are the expert on QBs and can't see how a professional scout could like hack over lynch?

No of course I don't but Hackenburg was horrible his last two years at PSU. I try my best to hold out hope here but I need to see it first.

well you CAN take a QB at any point. but if you think a guy can be a franchise QB, you roll the dice on him. obviously macc and the coaches felt this way about hackenberg.

considering you are the guy who always harps on needing a franchise QB, i'm surprised you think you just can take any guy anywhere and problem is solved.

No you are right but if the guy can't hit a wide barn I need too question it. Yes They need to have big ones & they did here

It's easy. They have scouts who do this for a living, who have been doing this for years. Guys who make this their life. They have access to film that we will never see, calls to coaches that we will never make, and a massive amount of data that goes far beyond youtube videos and scouting magazines.

That is why I will generally defer my opinion to theirs, even if I have and express my own opinions. The most I ever did was play in college and coach at the HS and prep/postgrad levels. Like most average fans, I cannot compare to the massive amount of knowledge and access to information they have.

have to look at it like this Hackenberg lost his coach in Bill O'Brien after his freshman year... Penn State was also sanctioned with those penalties against the school... Hackenberg had less talent to work with but stuck it out and like Ryan Fitzpatrick last season was a successful failure for his career there...

He has the tools, he has the arm and he can tuck n run... It's his accuracy playing behind an o-line that was crippled to say the least... He has good delivery when given time and has good footwork in the pocket honestly better than Bryce Petty... as much as I am iffy on the pick it was a smart pickup but I would of thought he could of fell to the third round...
