2nd round QB's drafted by the Jets:
Browning Nagle
Kellen Clemmens
Geno Smith
Christian Hackenberg
That's reason enough to hate this. I mean, if the front office 25 years ago took Browning Nagle, how can you argue that?

wait, all years you talk about hack as the possible top pick in the draft. bet you never heard of lynch until a few weeks ago. now you are the expert on QBs and can't see how a professional scout could like hack over lynch?
Someone just answer this question for me, if the Jets felt they needed to draft a QB high in the draft then why didn't they just draft Lynch? I thought when they passed on Lynch that maybe they had some faith in Petty. Well obviously not because they draft a QB in the second round. So why not Lynch if finding a franchise QB was that much of an issue for us? This just doesn't make sense to me. Of course it doesn't need to but DAMN, FUCK and SHIT!
have to look at it like this Hackenberg lost his coach in Bill O'Brien after his freshman year... Penn State was also sanctioned with those penalties against the school... Hackenberg had less talent to work with but stuck it out and like Ryan Fitzpatrick last season was a successful failure for his career there...
He has the tools, he has the arm and he can tuck n run... It's his accuracy playing behind an o-line that was crippled to say the least... He has good delivery when given time and has good footwork in the pocket honestly better than Bryce Petty... as much as I am iffy on the pick it was a smart pickup but I would of thought he could of fell to the third round...
I hope your right and he proves me wrong and I will cut him some slack because he did go through tuff 2nd and 3rd years at PSU. All good points!have to look at it like this Hackenberg lost his coach in Bill O'Brien after his freshman year... Penn State was also sanctioned with those penalties against the school... Maybe you have me mixed up with someone else because I never said anything about Hackenburg being a top flight QB. If so, I don't remember when that could have been and if you have proof, show me???
FYI- I never said I was a QB guru or acted like I was one. So save that BS for someone else and don't direct it towards me!
law of averages say they hit on one :global (49):
Point, you know I would not have taken a QB in that spot either, we both said it before the pick, but I also said if we're going to take a QB, Hack has a much higher ceiling than Cook in my view. Hack is 6' 5"/225 and he has a cannon for an arm, and his tape from his Freshman year is terrific. Since then their O-line has been atrocious, he's been sacked a hundred times!, by far the most in the nation, and the coaching was awful as well. I'm not making excuses, he's been awful the past two years, but its not ALL his fault and he has big time NFL tools. The Jets can hit a HR with this pick, its possible, there's a chance. Its not a great chance, maybe 25% to be fair, but there is a chance and its not just a pipe dream chance.2nd round QB's drafted by the Jets:

I'm not saying it's impossible that they had him ranked higher, I'm just saying I don't see how? Hackenburg's second and third year at PSU were not good at all. I will give him credit for sticking it out with the team with everything the football team was going through. And yes you do have me mixed up because I never argued for Cook or Hackenburg being franchise QBs.maybe i have you confused with someone else, but i recall a lot of talk on the board over hack and cook being the top 2 QBs on the board. i know you always talk about needing a franchise QB, so maybe i mixed you up with someone else.
but as you say here, you are not a QB guru. so why do you think it's impossible that the jets may have ranked hack higher than lynch?
Petty came from a spread offense and Hack has experience under center and in pro style offense. I don't hate the pick because we have to find a QB.
I don't think Hackenburg will be the answer but hopefully he proves me wrong.
Can't be worse than Geno!!

I love Jets fans... McCagnan goes from genius to absolute moron simply because his QB evaluation doesn't line up with what they think is the right pick.
2 years ago Hackenburg was projected as a #1 overall pick. He has shown unique skills.
Can we give him 5 or maybe 10 snaps in training camp before he is proclaimed the worst QB since Ryan Leaf
