So are we set at WR?
I think we need to grab another vet I guess when teams start dumping

Quite possibly before then...What I just recently became aware of is that after may 7, teams looking to sign unrestricted FAs won’t be subject to the compensatory pick formula. That might be what Mac is waiting for In signing a guy like Wisniewski.

Robby, Enunwa and Crowder is solid.

But the question is Enunwa’s health. Can he stay healthy all year? He’s a violent receiver after the catch, dragging defenders and welcoming contact. I’m not 100% confident he stays healthy.

crowder also had injury issues last year. which is why i agree they need more depth. bellamy has never shown to be a productive receiver - more of a special teamer

I don't know where you read that Edoga is good in pass protection to be a good left tackle. Edoga is a run blocker and will thrive as a RG and can be used at RT. To say Darnold is thrilled to have Edoga to keep him upright is vastly misleading.

Wait, what?

His game is pass protection. Putting him inside makes no sense. It negates his length and athleticism. Macc may have talked about that, but I just don't see it. He has way too high a center of gravity to slide in at guard, and I don't think he has enough surge to be an effective RT for an NFL ground game, though I think he could neutralize teams that employ edge rushers off both edges.

(My apologies. I posted this before I saw the other posts in the thread about the subject.)

While some may look at Edoga as just average, I see him as having a unique skill set. His quick feet give him the ability to stay on his block , even against the best edge rushers. That bodes very well for a QB who has the mobility to move around the pocket. I believe Darnold might be ecstatic with having his former teammate drafted to help keep him upright..who knows when Edoga will be quite ready to move into the LT spot, but in the meantime, I think he could be plugged in to any of the O-Line spots...maybe even Center. Hey, he’s actually 1/2 inch shorter than Mangold, and roughly the same weight.

The NFL comparison has been with Beachum. However, I am going to make another comparison.

Keep in mind, I am not saying he is nearly at this level yet, or that he would ever get there. But with his length and athleticism, he has a bit of a poor man's D'Brick to him. If you remember, when Ferguson first came out, he had the frame, but had not put the bulk on it yet. He had the length, the quick feet, the extension, the lockout in his pass set, but he wasn't stout enough to stop larger bull rushers, the sort of 3-4 DEs he might see.

To me, I see him as a third tackle to begin his NFL career, but basically serving as Beachum's understudy. I think Shell is a better fit at starting RT, but I could see Edoga getting some work at both with a focus on taking over the LT spot when Beachum is done.

Sack, I couldn’t agree more !

Some random and belated thoughts on the draft and this thread
  • Q was a slam-dunk pick. I don't care how crowded a position is, when you can get a player that dominant, you do it! I am a LOOOONG time Oklahoma Sooners fan, and I remember listening to the CFP Oklahoma vs Alabama game after 'bama tore out to the huge lead, and suddenly the Sooners started to move the ball and I thought, ah, okay, the O finally started to find a rhythm. And then one of the announcers said that Quinnen Williams had gone to the sidelines for some minor injury, and I realized that it was only with him out that OK started to move the ball; they had all of 24 yards before that. The consensus #1 OL in the country had no answer for him, he dominated, period. Welcome to the Jets, Q!
  • I like the humble things Polite has said since the draft; I like that the Jets have someone in the FO who knew him from UF and was confident that he is actually a good kid who was a bit immature but has realized that he needed to grow up; I like that we know now WHY he tested poorly at the combine and pro day (he put on weight thinking to show NFL teams that he could bulk up, but he did it poorly, and injured a hamstring to boot) and that it is so easily correctable; I LOVE his tape and pass-rushing ability off the edge, and his motor, and his relentlessness to the QB or ball carrier. If we get the guy we see on his tape, we might have the steal of the draft, and one that fills a huge need.
  • Edoga has unusually quick feet for such a big guy and some very nice things on tape, and I trust our new OL coach to develop him.
  • Wesco is going to be a huge factor in the running game, and as such will become a quick favorite of Bell and Darnold. And when I looked at his college highlights, the guy who sprang to mind was Mickey Shuler, the way he kept on running over and bouncing off of people after the catch. He wasn't used a lot in the passing game, but it appears that he brings some potential to the table in that area as well.
  • The reactions to Cashman here were hilarious. Slow and unathletic? Geez, did anyone bother to look him up before posting that garbage? He absolutely blew up the combine, posting a 4.5 40, and overall, top-7 marks among all LBs in five different categories. And if you watch his tape, he plays at least that fast and athletically, sideline to sideline! He could get a little stronger, but that should come with time. I think he was a steal in the 5th round. He'll probably be a big ST contributor right away, a rotational player before season's end, and an eventual starter. This was my favorite pre-draft write-up of him: https://thedraftnetwork.com/player/blake-cashman Read all three Analysts' assessments.
  • Austin was a great late round gamble. Like others, I wouldn't have minded a higher-rated CB earlier in the draft, but I trust that Jets didn't see the value when their turns came around. The health questions are real, but so is the talent, so a good chance to take in Round 6.
As always, there are questions that need to be answered the right way, but this is looking to me like Mac's best draft to date, and if things break very right, it could eventually yield us up to five good starters and/or rotational players.

It’s obviously a gamble to take players with injury concerns , but the later rounds usually indicate fringe type players who might possibly be of help on special teams , or on back up roles. I like the idea of taking a chance on players who might have otherwise gone much higher , and , with starter potential.
