Think if we had won tonight & the next three weeks. Some would be talking 72 dolphinsJust a little perspective. This was against the 49rs who are one of the best rosters and coached teams in the NFL for the last few years. Yes we certainly did not look good, but I’m not as down as most of you.
We can still finish perfect.0-17There goes our undefeated season
Hard to get worseOverreaction Tuesday.
I'm as disappointed as the rest of you. But I did say you can't put any stock in week 1 games. They are rarely telling since the new CBA.
I fully expected the D to struggle vs the Run. They were bad vs the Run last year and let the best run defenders walk in the off season.
The o line was a major disappointment, could not open any holes whatsoever and were pushed back into the pocket all night. It was the first time taking a single snap together in live game action though.
AR looked Pedestrian at best. First game back from major injury, hopefully got the mental aspect of returning out of the way last night.
Hopefully it gets better, much better....

I will see ya in a few weeks.I'm not going to go off the deep end and hit the get rid of everybody button just yet.
In soccer, they use those stupid preseason friendlies to shake the rust off and get fit for the season, in the NFL they use those games to play scrubs while most of the stars are sat at home counting their money.Overreaction Tuesday.

The New CBA severely limits off season work. Preseason games are essentially to get a look at 3rd string and PS players. In soccer, they use those stupid preseason friendlies to shake the rust off and get fit for the season, in the NFL they use those games to play scrubs while most of the stars are sat at home counting their money.
It seems an odd way to do things while saying you can't put stock in week 1 games because they are rusty and unprepared.
Call it an overreaction if you like but we were shite, just for once, will they be something different?
I agree with this but feel things needed to be done differently with AR and the offense. AR has had what 2 training camps these guys? I felt playing at least the starting OL and letting Rodgers take a hit in a game situation would've been beneficial. I'm not saying let him get killed out there or play the starters for 4 quarters in the 1st preseason game, but one or two series wouldn't have killed them. We will see. The Season isn't over and the coming weeks will tell the tale. The New CBA severely limits off season work. Preseason games are essentially to get a look at 3rd string and PS players.
Teams have different philosophies on how to proceed but most don't want to expose their starters to injury, a small percentage still do on a very limited basis.
The problem comes in when you have 5
o lineman who have never taken a snap together.
I said that I put little stock in week one games due to that. Look across the league, teams that scored in bunches only to fall on their ass and give up big comeback wins ,upsets are the norm. It's my opinion that week 1 never translates to the rest of the season.
If we won last night, we would be building the cabinet for the VLT today Lots of football left in the season and a lot can and will happen between now and Feb. Will it be good or bad? I don't know, but I'm not ready to give up on the season after 1 game.
I don't disagree. It will take some time to gel but I believe it will happen. Mostly vets on the line and Rodgers is not going to gain anything from a handful of snaps. Easy to second guess, but Rodgers coming off injury and 4 of 5 of our O lineman are injury prone or returning from major injury.I agree with this but feel things needed to be done differently with AR and the offense. That's why it is odd then really, look I understand it is a tough old game and some in England think they are fannies for wearing 'hats n stuff' but it is utterly ridiculous to come into a season essentially cold, practice ground can't replicate the real thing. The New CBA severely limits off season work. Yes I know if one of the starters were hurt in a meaningless preseason game the fallout would be gargantuan. Same ole Jets, all that crap, yadda yadda yadda.I don't disagree. Just think of the fallout if they had played and Rodgers or one of the tackles were injured?
I think it's more a result of Salah's philosophy to keep the linemen healthy. They skip a lot of the on field work in preseason for more weight training . I believe more reps side by side would be more beneficial.Yes I know if one of the starters were hurt in a meaningless preseason game the fallout would be gargantuan. This performance is the result of not playing those guys in that scenario too.
I guess what I'm saying is that We can't have it both ways. It's today's NFL. Gone are the days of 2 a-days and snot bubbles(those in the know, know).
So are injuries in meaningless games(supposedly).
