The New York Jets previously maintained a very tense rivalry with their in-town counterparts, the New York Giants, a rivalry that has since diminished due to the infrequency with which the teams meet in the regular season. Its origins can be traced back to the formation of the American Football League in 1960, as a rival to the more established NFL. The upstart league decided to directly compete with the NFL's Giants, and granted a charter franchise to Harry Wismer, who proclaimed that New York was ready for another professional football team.
Like the AFL and the NFL, their respective teams in New York fought for publicity, attention and fans. Since the two teams play each other so infrequently in the regular season, some, including players on both teams, have questioned whether the Giants and Jets have a real rivalry.
This game will let us know who are likely to be the starters heading into the season, expect all the day one starters to play in the first half. Even Dalvin Cook, Breece Hall, Mike Carter to platoon on offense with Aaron Rodgers. The main case in this game we should see both Mekhi Bceton and Max Mitchell play both tackle spots. Alijah Vera Tucker should also get time at left guard and left tackle which will shake things up. Believe Tippmann will get practice with the 1's this week as if he has been handed the keys which is what we all want. Heard that both Laing & Warren going to get some time with the 1's & 2's this week because they are looking for the best 5.
Defensively the linebacker room is still in question outside Mosley & Sherwood there is no clear cut third starter from what I hear. Quincy is more of situational player. Wonder if Bryce Huff will get more opportunities and will the package of JFM on the inside be a thing?
What are you looking to see in the final preseason game?
