I don't see anything official from the Jets about Miles on the PS

I hope he didn't catch a resentment over not making the 53 and is looking to latch on with another teams PS. I saw that happen once before with one of our players. I can't remember who, but he was pissed that he didn't make the team, rejected our PS offer, and signed with another teams PS.

Not sure what the hold up is here, this could have been done five minutes after he went unclaimed.

I'll wait till its official before I add him to the PS chart at the top of page one.

It happened last year with 6th rounder Brandon Dixon who wound up signing on with Tampa -- not sure if that is who you are thinking of. He was a Florida kid and had a chance to play at home, don't think it was because he was pissed.

No I was thinking of another guy who was upset that he didn't make the team, but thanks for reminding me that Dixon did it too. Whatever the reason, its not official that Miles signs with our PS until its official. Again, not sure what the hold up is, this could have been wrapped up and announced a long time ago. We'll see ...

How does the timing on that work? How long would a team have to wait before they could put a player on the PS and not the 53?

Once he clears waivers, and he did that hours ago, we could put him on the PS immediately, within minutes.

The fact that there is still no official announcement is unusual. That doesn't mean it won't happen, but its important to note that its HIS CHOICE, he's essentially a free agent who can sign with any teams practice squad that he wishes. Players usually say with their current teams for a variety of reasons, but not always, thats why its not official until its official.

Yup. At 9 right now. Still think Qvale winds up there in the 10th spot as long as Ijalana's knee holds up in practice.

So much energy spent on a back up player that cleared waivers. Even the safety starved Giants didn't care to claim him. I'm glad he is back, but wouldn't have cared if he was gone.

Now that all the roster stuff is in order, Owusu back and we didn't lose Miles or Powell, time to focus on the season opener!

looks to me like the 10 OL is probably temporary - lots of directions for that 10th slot - my bet would be that we stay with 10 for one week and then bring back a QB

Darryl slater brings up a good point on Twitter

None of our 9 on the practice squad are veterans so we can sign a veteran for the 10th spot.

They still have one opening that can be filled by veterans with as many as two full years of experience on an active roster.

A resentment ?? this kid basically has one foot out of his NFL career...I don't think he has any time to hold resentments

plus he knows Jets defense....still a good spot for him unlike going to a new team and learning from scratch....

Interesting to hear some of Bowles comments concerning Miles. I believe he said that although he really likes Miles, he is not ready and that he will benefit from the additional time on PS. Translation, he was expendable but a potential useful special teams piece and #5 S in the event of injury. The kid they picked up from LSU has intriguing size, film-work and was a starter at an elite program. Probably more upside than Miles and like Miles won't be expected to contribute much this year anyway. At the end of the day, this new management/coaching team seem to be pressing a lot of the right buttons and has me optimistic about the future of this franchise.
