Thats the thing that jumps off the page at me and I commented on it immediately, 10 OL's, thats absolute insanity.

You mean to tell me we needed to keep Brent Qvale (for example) as the 10th OL on the depth chart, who contributes absolutely nothing on specials, who basically sits around all year and eats and collects a paycheck, more than, oh say, Walter Powell who could have been your primary return man, and who clearly looked like the best return man on the team?

Six draft picks and two UDFA's (Wes Saxton and Taiwan Jones). Incidentally I praised Mac after the draft when he was able to sign these two, who I termed "Priority UDFA's", they were both on my short list of the best UDFA's following the draft, so I'm not surprised they made it. Those were two draftable players in my view, guys who should have been drafted.

Cuts are timed to protect players the GM still wants.
Early cuts get looked over and signed, thereby reducing the demand for players the Jets REALLY want to pass waivers and land on their p.s.
(Most GMs have an unofficial reciprocation rule about not touching players other GMs want on their p.s., in return for being able to pass their own p.s. players through waivers.)

Every early cut signed at a position, and the longer a GM can delay announcing a final cut hopeful p.s. player - the better the odds Hoodie won't slap his greedy mitts on one or two of them - 'cuz Hoodie don't play by the unwritten rule.

Saxon, for example. Even IF all 30 other GMs let him slide through waivers, Hoodie would snatch him up faster than a hungry raccoon on a soda cracker.
