Asked for more clarification on severity of Darrelle Revis' groin injury, #Jets decline. Todd Bowles will address it tomorrow, we're told

The only way we lose this game is if we beat our selves committing dumb penalties, turning the ball over and suddenly become undisciplined.

This to me is a game where the veteran core players of this team such as Mangold, Harris, Revis, D'Brick state that under the old regime the team would over look an opponent as such. IMHO, these are the games we come of age and take no prisoner lightly.

Also, make no mistake, this 2015 New York Jets team wants to quietly make their mark on the NFL. Slowly but surely they will be a blip under the radar. No boisterous noises, no Ra Ra BS, no unnecessary chatter..just win and demolish who lines up across from them.

IMHO, Bowles will have this team ready to make history vs a team we've never beaten.

Don't think we'll ever beat the Eagles if we don't this week

I have that same feeling. We badly need to get rid of that winless record against Philly on Sunday. The Eagles are wounded but desperate. Gonna be a very tough game, and I just hope we are aggressive on both sides of the ball. Decker's health will be huge for the offense.

As it should be. The Eagles should be 1-1 and could have beaten the Falcons week one had it not been for a missed FG.

Philly should not be taken lightly at all. The offense is out of sync, but we all know once it clicks, they can score at will. We're not playing against a 1-10 squad. Its going to be a dog fight make. Especially defensively.

Should be? The Eagles were expected to be a very powerful offensive team. They are off two very dysfunctional games. If they get it even half together, they will be very tough to beat.

I'm hoping they wait at least one more week to pull it together

Currently, we may be the best defense in the NFL.

Currently, they may be the most dysfunctional offense in the NFL.

I fully understand "Any Given Sunday", but I'm not even contemplating a loss this week.

Sunday's game will either further confirm that we're a legit team, or make us question the first two.

I'm gonna go with option #1 until given a reason not to . . .

The Eagles are an absolute dysfunctional mess. If the Jets do not beat them, given the current state of both teams, I don't believe they ever will.

This is the best thing that could have happened, cause if he loses the players, they won't be motivated.

Chip Kelly: My play calling isn’t too predictable, problem is execution

by Michael David Smith
September 23, 2015

Chip Kelly says criticism of his play calling is not the problem on the 0-2 Eagles. The problem is the players’ execution.

Asked about criticisms that the Eagles’ offense is too predictable and opposing defenses have figured them out, Kelly said the reality is that the Eagles aren’t that predictable. They just need the players to run the plays better.

“I think we’ve been varied in our two games, and through our preseason and everything, we’ve been doing a different job, changing formations and things like that. When you’re not successful, I think guys are grasping at excuses, to be honest with you. We still need to block and tackle,” Kelly said. “What I’m saying is we need to execute.”

There’s little doubt that the Eagles need to execute better, but Kelly’s comments come across like he’s blaming his players instead of looking in the mirror. And even if the blame is on the players, they’re Kelly’s hand-picked players running Kelly’s system. It’s his job to get results.

So far, Kelly’s results are 0-2.

Agree

IMO Bradford is an elite QB talent, who is made of glass.

He hasn't really played in what ? Nearly 2 years? And now he is being put in this super fast paced offense. He looks hesitant, and not quite sure of himself. Eventually the light will go on for him. Hope it's not this week.

That is unless he gets broken in the mean time. A very effective thing Bowels/Rodgers is doing right now is blitzing Davis up the middle. Right in the QB's face. Last week he had 2 QB hits, and 3 hurries.

Luck has the mobility to escape the immediate rush. Bradford doesn't.

Should be interesting to see how that goes.

Are you sure about that? Listen, I can appreciate any good team taking advantage of an opponents temporary weaknesses, whatever they may be.

But, for us, as Jets fans, I would like to get a better idea of who this team really is. Wouldn't you rather see the Eagles come out playing great and firing on all cylinders. The jets beat them playing great defense and the offense scored when it had to. Isn't that a better way to be able to identify our team?

Rather than going in and playing the same football as the 1st 2 games and because the Eagles cannot get out of their own ways, they lose?

Because really I am dying to know WHO is this Jets team. Some people say they've played NOBODY and they will eventually be exposed. Yet others say they are playing great and they are legitimate playoff contenders. I am sure it is probably somewhere in the middle. But wouldn't it be nice to know where this team stands and how much turn around they have managed to make in just one offseason?

Whoever goes to the game has to wear white. The Jets are doing a white out and will be handing out white rally towels.

Todd Bowles confronts trap game by channeling inner Bill Parcells

Rich Cimini, ESPN Staff Writer

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- It's not a suspension or an arrest or a locker-room fight, but it's a coaching challenge nonetheless -- a welcome challenge, of course.

Managing prosperity is part of the job, and Todd Bowles knows it. It's better than dealing with the calamity du jour, as was the case in the summer, but mishandling the good times also can be damaging to a team. Success is intoxicating; Bowles' objective is to maintain a sober, clear-eyed determination at One Jets Drive.

The New York Jets' impressive win Monday night was a perception-changing, expectation-raising accomplishment. They're 2-0 for the first time since 2011, and here come the seemingly inept Philadelphia Eagles, driving up the New Jersey Turnpike, desperate for their first victory. The way things are going for them, the bus driver will get off the wrong exit and they'll end up in Hoboken.

All of which means this is a dangerous game for the Jets. That's how the NFL works.

Bowles doesn't seem worried. Does he ever?

He was chilling outside the team cafeteria on Wednesday, after his daily news conference, when I asked if he's concerned about his team's mindset in these circumstances. After all, it's a new coach and a new season, and everything is still in the formative stages, including the team's identity.

No, he said.

"We have a veteran team. These guys understand," Bowles said. "Through training camp and some of the trials and tribulations -- with the injuries and the penalties and the fighting -- we understand how we win and how we lose."

I covered Bill Parcells' run with the Jets, 1997-99, and I hear a lot of Parcells in Bowles. It makes sense, of course, because he was around Parcells in New York, Dallas and Miami, and Bowles considers the Hall of Fame coach a mentor. At times, they speak the same language, with an ability to simplify the game into two categories: things that make you win, things that make you lose. He sounds like a chip of the ol' Bill.

Every Monday, Bowles shows his team video clips from other games, instances in which teams lost because of critical mistakes. There are a thousand ways to lose a football game -- the Jets' closest NFL neighbors, the Eagles and New York Giants, have provided plenty of material -- and he wants to educate his players on potential pitfalls. Parcells used to do the same thing.

"I talk to them every day about others' mistakes -- not just our team, but other teams," Bowles said. "Something happens every week. We talk about how games are won or lost, saying, 'We can't do this' or 'We don't want to do that.' Not just our film, but everybody's film. We're mature in that way. It helps a lot."

In terms of age and experience, the Jets are a seasoned team. They have nine starters in the 30-to-32 range and a bunch of guys right behind them. The Jets have only one rookie in the lineup, Leonard Williams. That kind of veteran leadership should help them in pressure situations, as it did in the fourth quarter on Monday night, when they responded with a touchdown after the Indianapolis Colts closed to within 10-7.

The Jets endured a season's worth of adversity in the months of July and August, including the stunning Geno Smith-IK Enemkpali altercation. In retrospect, Bowles said of the Punch Heard 'Round the NFL, "It can tear you apart or it can bring you together. It can open your eyes."

Clearly, Bowles believes it has unified the team. I asked him if the fight steeled their determination.

"They're all hardened and determined, but it kind of brings them together more, and they understand the job they have to do," he said. "We have so many veterans. They can go out and fight individually on their own, but if they fight together ... that's what we're trying to get done. Then they'll become a good football team. They're working toward that."

Sunday will be a great test to see how much they have developed.

Appears unlikely that LB Trevor Reilly (finger) will play. Better chance that LB Lorenzo Mauldin (concussion) goes on Sunday. #nyj
