I'm not really worried, and to be honest I'd go with Geno over paying Fitz 15 million.

I'd rather have Fitz, but with a tough schedule and lowered expectations based on it, I'd almost rather use this season as a developmental year for a young QB. With or without Fitz, the playoffs would be a tall order for the Jets with that brutal schedule. So why not take your lumps with a younger QB and get the growing pains out of the way?

As much as I would hate watching Geno play, it would drive me crazy watching Fitz throw 3 INT's in a game that meant the playoffs again. Fitz is worth what the Jets offered him. Sign Hoyer to compete with Geno and Petty and go from there. If Fitz signs for reasonable money then I will be fine, but of he doesn't come back then I will be fine with that as well.

You know.... I don't hate the idea of trading up into the early 2nd.

Our 2nd and a 2017 3rd to move into the top 5 in the 2nd.

You can get a steady CB in McKenzie or maybe a G in Whitehair.
Lots of nice players left.

This season has officially gone to sh*t. Reports say Fitz would rather retire from football than accept the Jets offer and Mac just picked a part time player. We'll be lucky to win 6 games this season.

Fitz can go F himself. No way will he ever duplicate last season. And at least Mac won't $15M to watch him throw INT's when it mattered the most. I can let Geno not make the playoffs for way cheaper.

Third best LB in the entire draft and the healthiest of the bunch and he's a part time player? Huh?

Maine is right, this kid is strictly a 4-3 OLB, there's no way in hell he's playing ILB in the 3-4, he'll get killed, he'll never survive a full season, he's too small.

I just saw him being interviewed on the NFLN by a Steelers CB and Maurice Jones Drew, and he looked small compared to the CB, COMPARED TO A CB, and he looked skinny compared to MJD. This guy is gonna get SMASHED in the 3-4, especially at ILB and Bowles already said thats where he's going to play.

But I sure hope you're right about Tyler Higbee though. Looks like a nice player.

Again, the Jets brass thinks you're wrong. They have a plan for Lee. And many draft predictions had this guy as a mid first value.

Not saying he's a slam dunk, but in terms of value, you cannot argue the pick. Some mock drafts said he's a stud who's an immediate starter.

Jets fans are an interesting bunch. For years, they whine about the Jets having "bean counters" running the team, rather than personnel and scouting guys. Then, as soon as the Jets hire football guys, rather than number guys, those same fans second-guess every move they make.

Then, Jets fans complain about the team not having a pass rusher. As soon as the Jets draft a speed rusher, the pick gets blasted.

This is definitely an interesting fan base, to say the least.

Not every teams board is the same, you grade players based on how they fit into your scheme, particularly front seven players on defense. If you run a base 3-4, you are looking for more size in the front seven than a team that runs a 4-3.

Your DE's need to be 300 Pounders and your NT needs to be 320+, and your OLB's need to be 6' 4"/260+ or thereabouts, and your ILB need to be big and strong enough to deal with OG's.

As I said repeatedly in this thread, if we were a base 4-3 team this would be a terrific pick. You plug this kid in at the WILL in the 4-3 and you have an All-Pro caliber linebacker prospect, so he definitely carries a TOP 15-20 Grade if you run a 4-3, but if you run a base 3-4 his value decreases significantly, he's too small, and the idea of moving him inside in the 3-4 makes him a project on top of it. We drafted an undersized 4-3 WILL to play 3-4 ILB.

He's not a 3-4 edge rusher, sack, he had 4.5 sacks this year, which is about right for what he is, which is a 4-3 OLB, not a 3-4 edge rusher ... and we plan on playing him inside, so don't look for anything even approaching double digit sacks. This is not the answer to that problem. We still need an elite edge rusher. That need was not addressed with this pick. We didn't get that player here. We got a 4-3 WILL who we plan on playing inside in the 3-4.

And SMALLER, so maybe we can play Pop Warner with a bunch of f*cking grammar school kids.

Knock it off

He's listed at 232, 30 lbs more than Pryor, 2 lbs more than Lattimore and only 12 lbs less than Henderson. He still has room to grow and is more athletic than all those guys. The kid can play. He will be what we all envisioned Davis to be: a side line to side line LB who can cover and get TFL's. Lee is not shy about contact.

This d has been getting carved up with underneath and medium routes for years. I've seen YOU bitch about that. They needed this kind of player and you know it.

The way the board fell, I would have preferred Treadwell, but you simply cannot knock the decision at all. Week one he makes this team harder to throw against.
