Just not high on the pick, Hobson. Would love to be doing cartwheels today, and I definitely don't choose to be disappointed. Ohio State should have been a runaway national champion this past year with the kind of talent they are being credited with in this draft. As it stood, they didn't even make the playoffs. 5 out of the top 20?? Are you kidding me?? I would bet my bottom dollar that we're going to see more busts than booms with the 1st round buckeyes.
Regarding Lee specifically, nothing that hasn't been said before, but this is a 220 pound LB'er who bulked up for the combine. Once the season starts, he will shrink to his playing weight, not bulk up as some are hoping. He may be a good player but, at his size, he is a huge gamble. Not the "safe pick" that some are making it out to be. If we're going to roll the dice, let's roll it on a franchise QB. Lynch is just as much of a gamble but the payoff would have been HUGE if he worked out....15 years of franchise QB huge. Lee's ceiling is a versatile 3 down backer with plus cover skills.
My honest guess though?? He gets killed at the POA and teams run down it his throat on 1st and 2nd down, forcing his relegation to a 3rd down backer. He can cover backs out of the backfield and he has the speed and explosion to get into the backfield and cause disruption and turnovers. He will get overpowered by players like Gronk however, so I don't see him effective matched up on the TE.
