I don't think Cousins wants to stay in Washington, he turned down a pretty big contract last off season and Washington can't keep Franchise tagging him. If they do tag him again in 18 that will be over $70 Million they have paid him over 3 seasons. He will likely hit the market.
The 49s are saying that they may not even play Garappalo this season. Trying to get an extension done with him. They seem pretty sure he is the QB of the future there.

It would cost them over $50 Million to franchise him for the 2 season remaining on Brady's deal. So basically , I think the reasoning behind starting McCown was so that the rest of the team would be behind it rather then if we started one of the kids and everyone else throws in the towel from day one. Then we don't get to see what we have from anyone. I think management figured since McCown hasn't won 3 games in the last 8 years combined , then what are the chances he wins 3 now to take us out of the #1 pick hunt.

What they forgot to figure in is that : we are the Jets. You had to figure that when we met up with the cheatahs for the 1st time this year that we would still be in striking distance so we could blow the game against them and then never win again. That way everyone is devastated from blowing a chance for first place while at the same time we have already won 3 games taking us out of the running for the QB picks. Initially I was opposed to them giving up the farm for a QB but not anymore. We are long overdue for a young franchise drafted QB. Since Namath, O’Brien (I guess???) and Pennington (maybe). So get it done by any means necessary please. Problem is, this is the Jets so will they trade up and draft the right QB? This was my point from the beginning, why play McCown just to go no where accept messing up our draft position? From let’s say 4th-6th to have to trade up to go to 1st-2nd. If they would have played Hack or Petty then we’d know regardless if we have a franchise QB. By either of their performance and our record would be around the same anyway to decide where to go from there. As for your assessment of their O line, they are ranked 27 the in pass protection on the season and have given up the 3 Rd most pressures of any team in the league. The Jets o line ranks well ahead of NEs.

It's not hard to trade up at all.... With each win it becomes more costly, but not hard But with that said if we have to trade up to get into the top 2 this year, we do it at whatever the cost. If we get the QB in the daft and and Edge rusher in Free agency I will consider this offseason successful... We are young just about everywhere else.

When I said hard, I meant costly. I think that number 2 pick of the 49ers will be held for ransom. I agree we have a nice foundation. a qb, a WR1, a lineman, and an edge rusher would be my priority. And with 80 mil plus of cap space, we could be pretty good next year. Also, Brady will be 41.

That's nice tony. I don't care what stats say this season nor do I have the time or energy to look up the stats of every qb in history I do know what my eyes have seen for the past 18 years or how ever many he's played. Brady for his career , which is a lot longer than just this year, has had more time to stand around in the pocket than anyone I have ever seen. that's not my opinion, that's a fact. My neighbor who is a former NFL player who actually likes the patriots and goes to their games agrees with me. The guy from the old site that called himself Patriot also agreed. he gave the credit to the oline coach who was there before belichick and actually retired a cfew years back and was then brought out of retirement 2 years ago by belichick because the oline wasn't as good without him So do countless patriot fans here in Ct. i don't know how many patriot games you get to watch in Florida but in CT. they are on every week. When it matters, nobody gets near brady, period. I'm sure at the end of last years superbowl during the comeback you could see that he had all day to do whatever he wanted. I can't help what I see. if you see something else from Florida so be it. And if you don't think belichick is arrogant then I'm sure you are on a very short list of people who see it that way. Nope I can't enjoy the Jets. But that's because there is nothing enjoyable about them. Look at this season. We were built to get the number 1 pick and we can't even do that right.

I'm not jealous of the cheatahs. I do not like them. Yes, they are by far better than anyone else and will win every superbowl until belichick leaves. When I watch a cheatahs game, if I were a commentator and the cheatahs were on offense the only thing I would need to say is "plenty of time... wide open" if you watch the games then you know that to be true. Again, you are talking this season, not the previous 17...and this season is young. In a few weeks no one will be anywhere near brady.

As for my statement "anyone can play qb on that team" We can speculate for the most part but We can also look at the limited time without brady. When Cassel played the season, if memory serves they were 10-6? Cassel was thrown into the season unexpectedly and still brought them within 1 Jet loss of being in the playoffs and probably winning the superbowl. Cassel has done nothing since. Last season brady was out 4 games. cheatahs were 3-1 the lone loss was by the 3rd string qb and he was injured... and didn't that 3rd string qb win the game before. Now that 3rd string qb has replaced another great qb. How's he doing on that team?

Lets speculate now. If brady were drafted by the Jets , Where would he be now. If Peyton Manning played for belichick and brady had played for the Colts, how many superbowls do you think Manning would have won. My speculation says , more than brady. What if brady and Luck switched places a few years back? Wouldn't luck have a bunch of superbowls.

Lets take it a step further.
He lobbies the NFL rules committee about any low and high hits to the QB. Thats a great rule when you have an immobile QB with a bad knee. If that is not bad enough, even when Brady gets hit legally he gets up screaming and staring at the refs.
