Foles led the Eagles to a 6-2 record prior to the injury. And his 2013 TD/INT ratio was 27 to 2. I don't wanna cherry pick stats, but that's pretty impressive. And 13/10 TD to INT isn't exactly horrible. Point is, I would take Nick Foles over both Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez in a heartbeat.

Good points Brick. Also, Foles never returned. He was never deemed physically able to go. Sanchez had to stay in.

...and there's no way of telling if he would have got better as the season went on.

Nick - Now here's what I think, we would need to move our 2nd rd pick for Foles. I remember Hobson felt Foles was a 3rd, you felt a 1, and I said a 2nd. If Glennon is a 3rd, I have to think Foles costs more than Glennon. IMO, Foles has more than Glennon, so I have to think it's a low 1, high 2nd, and anything less is a group of picks.

Mike Glennon - QB - Buccaneers
ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that the "feeling in league circles" is that the Bucs could fetch as much as a third-round pick for Mike Glennon.
A third-round pick would be fair for a 25 year old with 18 career starts, even if Glennon has proven to be a backup-worthy talent. The state of the quarterback position is fairly dire across the league, and Glennon would provide competence if nothing else. The Bucs have methodically tried to increase Glennon's trade value, talking him up at every turn.

Foles is significantly better than Glennon. When I said with this QB class Foles would be a 1st round pick I was thinking late in the round so maybe our 2nd is close enough to get the job done. The thing is I don't see the Eagles trading him unless the get another QB 1st and Foles may have to be used to get that done.

No way the Bucs are getting a 3rd for Glennon, they're just talking him up. Glennon will probably fetch a 5th rounder if they deal him at all. And the Eagles will only trade Foles if they land someone better, which obviously leads to speculation about Eagles/Jets deal. But the Eagles have multiple needs on defense. And they can win with Foles, so in reality nothing probably gets done. Foles is much better than Sanchez, who the Eagles won't even resign.

If the Jets were able to package that 6th pick for a combination of Foles and additional picks (swap 1st and an additional 3rd and/or 4th?) it would be intriguing. It will all come down to the new GM's feel on Mariota and if he feels he's got potential to be the "guy".

You say the Eagles will only trade Foles if they land someone better? So they wouldn't trade him to acquire the ammunition to move up and get someone better?

I have said it before on the old site sometimes it takes more than 1 trade to get you where you need to be the 6rh pick is a nice starting point.

if glennon is really worth a 3rd, then i agree foles is worth more. but i'd be surprised if any team gave up a 3rd for glennon

they need to trade up to #2 to ensure they get a QB. technically, they need to move to #1 to guarantee mariota, although the likelihood is that tampa takes winston so they probably only need to get to #2 .

i don't think they will move up to the #6 spot before the draft unless they KNOW that they can then jump up to the #2 spot in a deal with Tenn. but if we are gonna ask for a lot to move from 6 to 20 (say foles, the #2 0, a 3rd and next year's 1), what exactly are they gonna give Tenn to move from 6 to 2? you are talking in effect a herschel walker trade (or ricky williams trade), especially if you are doing it in piecemeal.

I'm guessing if Chip and the Eagles really want Mariota as much as the speculation suggests rights now, they'll look at a deal with Tennesse first. If they cannot consummate a deal with them, then Macc is going to hear the phone ringing right after Washington takes Gregory, Fowler, Ray, or whoever.

If Philadelphia is reading the tea leaves correctly, they've gotta see that between Tennesee and the Jets, nobody's taking Mariota. Unless, of course, Cleveland swoops in and snatches him in a move up with their two first rounders. I could see that happening, too.

My think is more around us sending#42 and a 4th next year for Foles that they can package with 20 and their owns array of picks to trade up to #2 without ever trading to #6 . They would likely need a back room handshake or make it a rare 3 team trade where Titans drop to 20 and get 42 and some Eagles picks and next year jets 4 and Eagles getting Titans 2.

Jets would be smart to just to stay patient and not make any deals pre-draft. My guess is Tenn is going with Mettenberger for another year and will fall in love with Leonard Williams. So they stay put. Jax is the wildcard and could stay where they are or trade back. No way in hell the Raiders can pass up their chance at this year's shiny toy. They aren't trading back. I feel Washington is just as bad as Oakland and Snyder will also jump on the player that "I can't believe was still there."

That leaves Mariota with the Jets on the clock and Cleveland and Philly desperate to upgrade their QB. The Jets play each against each other and see which one is willing to mortgage the farm. If neither do, they stay right there and take the last of the two franchise QB's in the draft. But my guess is Cleveland or Philly (or both) will offer a ridiculous package of picks and/or players.

Patience is a virtue here.

Question, why are we all assuming that the Redskins won't trade out of the #5 pick in front of us ? Yes they desperately need a pass rusher, but given an opportunity to accumulate a few picks they lost in the RG3 trade, why not trade here ? Besides Mariota, some team might be having a "woody" over Kevin White or Cooper after their great combine performances ?

I expect that to happen. Browns and Vikings badly need a WR, and white at 5 gives them that guy and Redskins will still get a pass rusher to replace orakpo later on (Ray, Beasley, Dupree, etc).
