Gotta figure this scum bag will have his supension cut down to either one or two games.

As happy as I am about the punishment, I fully expect this to get reduced. This is the Patriots we're talking about here. America's sweethearts. Tom Shady will weasel his way out of this. Bet on it.

By the letter of the policy Bellichick is completely innocent in all of this. The policy is clear that if investigators find that "preponderance of the evidence" points to foul play. Then you are essentially "guilty" in the eyes of the league. That's the system that was ratified by the union.

They could not come up with even one shred of evidence pointing to Bellichick being aware of the deflated balls and therefore he was not punished.

But that still contradicts Goodell's own comments from the past. "ignorance is not an excuse" means that Bellichick should also have to walk the plank. However, this is nothing that Goodell can simply waive a magic wand and make it happen. If he did, it would most certainly be appealed and overturned. It would damage his already damaged credibility.

With that said, Bellichick just got lucky this time around. We all know that a control freak sphincter like he is knew about this for sure.

But like I already laid out, Goodell followed the rules that he is limited to when assigning guilt and punishment handed out.

Tom Brady will be represented by the union on his appeal, with Jeffrey Kessler on the case. Kessler handled Rice, Peterson, Hardy for NFLPA.

Worth noting that Kessler has been a major thorn in the side of the NFL for decades. His presence should loom large for Brady.

When this sort of situation happens, the union always ends up backing a player like this. Isn't the union supposed to be representing the entirety of the players?

Representing and defending one player who cheated is basically giving a huge middle finger to every player for 31 other teams.

With the other situations, the off-field stuff, their actions, while horrible, were not directly detrimental to other players in the league. Brady's actions were.

Not the way it works with the PA or any union

They have defended all of the worst slimeballs and degenerates in the NFL from Incognito to Brady, Rice, Peterson, Hernandez.....every one of those dirtbags

Group of Idiots....a very good definition for ALL Buck Foston fans

Group of idiots on internet donate money to much richer person

Listen, we get it, people like football. And the liking of football is good for business, and pays a lot of mortgages.

But some of you people really need to take a peek in a mirror.

Some fan, aggrieved by the league’s fining the Patriots $1 million for their “more probable than not” role in deflating footballs, has decided to pass the hat.

A GoFundMe.com site has been set up, soliciting donations to help offset the league-imposed fine.

“We obviously know we won’t reach One Million Dollars, however we do believe the fine is bulls**t and want to help anyway we can,” the site reads. “So whatever is donated will be donated to the New England Patriots in help with the fine!”

Yeah, poor Robert Kraft, worth $4.3 billion (with a B) can use all the help he can get.

At the moment, 365 fans/suckers/trolls have made donations worth $5,430, ranging from $500 to $5. And to be honest, as a capitalist, part of me says “fine, have at it, whizz away your own money however you please.”

At the same time, there has to be a homeless dog somewhere in the cities where these people live, or something more worthy than making a quixotic — and very, very stupid — statement on behalf of a billionaire who believes he’s been wronged

I know they do. The point is, though, what Rice, Peterson, and Hernandez did was awful, but it did not directly hurt other union members. Brady's cheating did directly hurt other union members, on the field. It could have cost teams wins that may have led to the playoffs. It may have cost bonuses to certain players.

What I don't understand is how some fans can believe that either:

1. The Ideal Gas Law somehow applies, and only impacted the Patriots to such a degree, OR

2. These two low-level Patriots employees acted on their own, with no knowledge or blessing from Brady or Belichick or anyone else, to take air out of footballs after they had been checked by the officials.

Because if you think Brady is innocent, you need to believe one of those two is a fact.

i can't recall specifically, but i'd have to assume the players union also defended vilma and other saints players in bounty-gate. and that was based on a deliberate attempt to injure fellow players

And if the NFLPA did defend Vilma and others with Bountygate, that was wrong, as well. That would have been even more egregious than defending Brady.

I am SOOOO friggin' tired of the Kensil argument. HE WAS FIRED BY THE JETS IN 2006!!!

Are these people really so dumb as to think someone who was fired by a team would be in their pocket?

http://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/mike_kensil_reportedly_told_patriots_youre_in_big_fing_trouble_at_halftime/18782783

Not to mention, the parting was acrimonious.

""The idea that Mike Kensil would have it out for the Patriots is just false," a person familiar with the situation said. "It was not an amicable parting.""

The only people who are dumb enough to believe that a guy who was fired by a team would be subversively working for that team are Patriots fans and moron Boston sportswriters like Tom Curran.

It is an incredible city, and region, great schools and colleges, tremendous culture.

But their football fans are some of the worst people imaginable.
